The bride is the daughter of Tony and Michele Gillette of Sterling. The groom is the son of Marian Rosengren of Rock Falls and the late Steve Rosengren. The bride was escorted down the aisle by her father in an ivory, antique lace, mermaid-style gown with a cathedral train. She carried a bouquet of ivory roses, hydrangeas, calla lilies, and peacock feathers from her uncle’s farm. Serving as maid of honor was Meghan Edwards, cousin of the bride. The bridesmaids were Sarah Gillette, sister-in-law of the bride; Courtney Rosengren, sister-in-law of the groom; Morgan Edwards, cousin of the bride; and Emily Puffpaff, Megan Layzell, and Marissa Slater, all friends of the bride. 100th Birthday
Quilter honored with open house Ruth Balluff celebrated her 100th birthday with an open house April 12, 2014, in the solarium at Pinecrest Manor in Mount Morris. Ruth was born April 14, 1914, in Pinecreek Township. She attended, and graduated from, Polo schools. She and her late husband of 60 years, Carl Edward “Bud” Balluff, spent their adult life in Mount Morris. Ruth taught quilting classes in her home and at the Mount Morris Senior Center. She was a member of several quilting clubs. Ruth was active in Trinity Women of the ELCA, Trinity Lutheran
Church, Pinecreek Women’s Club, and was a past 4-H leader. Ruth and Alice Crowell had great fun taking pictures of old barns around the area and making slides to present their “barn program” to many local organizations. Ruth and Bud loved to travel and spend time at their lake property in Wisconsin and their winter home in Florida. She also traveled to the British Isles, Ireland, and Switzerland. Her favorite motto is: “Go while you can, and go as often as you can.”
