Serving as maids of honor were Lynn Smith, friend of the bride, and Lauren Marco, sister of the bride. The bridesmaids were Sasha Harris and Katie Pfundstein, both friends of the bride, and Jen Kobus, sister of the groom. Serving as best man was Brandon Bergschneider, friend of the groom. Birthday Happy 101st Birthday Roy Hess Roy A. Hess, born to Charles and Essie (Landis) Hess, will celebrate his 101st birthday March 7, 2014. Born in Sterling, he was raised on a farm north of town. After Sterling High School graduation, he worked at Lawrence Brothers for 4 years. After graduating from Wheaton College in 1939, with a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry, Roy married Gladys Witmer, also of Sterling, in 1940. They were married more than 68 years until 2009, when Gladys passed away. Their union has been blessed with six children, 17 grandchildren, and 42 great-grandchildren. Before moving back to Sterling to run the family farm for 16 years, Roy

In 2010, he was honored by Wheaton College for being their oldest living wrestling alumnus, having been team captain during his senior year. He is a proud 68-year member of the American Legion, serving in the Army in the South Pacific during World War II. He farmed his entire life in the Walnut area. With his wife, Norma, the Olsons
had three children: Larry of Bristow, Va.; Randall of Scroggins, Texas; and Cynthia of Walnut. He is very proud of his six grandchildren, Kevin, Craig, Katie, Kristin, Timothy, and Karin, and five greatgrandchildren, Annika, Natalie, Andrew, Olivia, and Ethan.
