Norine M. Carney of Morrison will celebrate her 90th birthday Jan. 9, 2016. Norine was born on Jan. 9, 1926, in the “Swede Town” area of Prophetstown. She married William “Bill” Carney on Feb. 4, 1950, in Springfield. Norine raised three children, and worked as an licensed practical nurse in the patient care

Remember to pick up Celebrations photos Former students, faculty, and families who attended Jordan Grade School gathered for a picture during an all-school reunion Sunday, Oct. 18, outside Jordan Township Hall. An all-school reunion was held Sunday, Oct. 18, 2015, at the Jordan Township Building, for all students, faculty, and families who attended Jordan Grade School. Well over 130 people attended and shared in a great potluck dinner, followed by a time of reminiscing of school days past. Mr. Wendy Parsons, the principal
at Jordan from 1957 to 1973, was the guest of honor, and thoroughly enjoyed catching up with his former students and faculty, and leading them in singing the Jordan School fight song. It also was the 60th anniversary of when the new school opened in 1955. A great time was had by all, and all look forward to the next gathering.

Share those special memories with Celebrations Celebrations features weddings, engagements, anniversaries, and other happy news, such as birthdays, reunions, and fouror five-generation photos. As a special way to preserve these memorable occasions, quarter-, halfor full-page announcements can be purchased. Paid announcements are determined by word count: no more than 125 words for a quarter page, no more than 250 words for a half page, and up to 340 words for a full page. Those paying for announcements will have the opportunity to proof them before publication. Customers will be contacted when the announcement is ready to be proofed. At that time, any corrections or additions can be made as needed at SVM’s Dixon
and Sterling offices. For convenience, proofs will be emailed without calls whenever possible. Photos may be submitted in color or black and white, and in any size. Engagements are available in basic (free) form (one photo of the couple), two styles of quarter-page paid (one photo only), half-page paid (two photos), and full-page paid (up to four photos). Anniversary announcements are available in the basic (free) form (one current photo only of the couple, no older than 5 years), quarter-page paid (one or two photos), half-page paid (two photos), and full-page paid (up to four photos). Announcements beginning with the 25th anni-
versary, and then in 5-year increments up to 60 years, can be at no charge. Other increments will require a paid announcement. Anniversaries of 70 years and more are at no charge in a paid format; the announcement size will be determined by the editor. After 60th-year anniversaries, SVM will publish free announcements, without special wording, without the 5-year increment restriction. Birthday announcements for area seniors 80 years of age and older can be at no charge without special wording. There is a charge for those younger than 80. The basic (free) form (one current photo of the individual), quarter-page paid (one or two photos), half-page paid (two pho-
tos), and full-page paid (up to four photos) are available. For 100th and older birthdays, SVM will publish free announcements in a paid format; the announcement size will be determined by the editor. Five-generation and four-generation photos with names, relationships, places of residence, and where and when they gathered may be submitted for publication. Multiple photos from the same submitter will need to be on a paid basis. Generation announcements are, of course, available on a paid (custom) basis in quarter-page (one photo), half-page (two photos), and full-page (up to four photos) form. Other celebrations include retirements, pro-
motions, awards, honors, baptisms, confirmations, baby’s arrival (able to contain more information than standard birth announcements, along with a photo), and other occasions.
