Rice-Martindale Reunion The descendants of Frank and Helen Martindale Rice met Sept. 11, 2016, at Old Mill Park in Savanna for their 36 consecutive reunion. Sixty-four members attended. Donald Rice of Rock Island, treasurer, decorated the pavilion with Armed Services flags, and gave his report. Betty Rice of Muscatine, Iowa, president, called the meeting to order, and Vada Waites, secretary and historian, read last year’s minutes. The oldest female present was Waites, 81, of Galena, and the oldest male was Ronald Johnson, 83, of Clinton, Iowa. The youngest member was Nevaeh Leiah McKenna, born June 12, 2016, and Devin Pence of Olney traveled the farthest. Pat Wurster of Thomson purchased the baby spoons and Don and Sue Rice provided the prizes. The officers will remain the same for next year. Bill Johnson of Colorado Springs, Colorado, is vice president; Cheryl Scykes of Rock Falls is assistant historian, and Wurster and Joyce LaShelle of Thomson are the raffle tables chairmen.
