They are the parents of Rae Lynn Olinger of Sterling, Keri (Sergio) Elizalde of Mundelein, Chanda (Sean) McDonnell of Sterling; and Megan (Scott) Graffius of Madison, Wisconsin. Graduation Airman Paige Garcia completed basic training in Texas Airman Paige D. Garcia proudly graduated from basic training on Dec. 2, 2016, at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio. She then went to Fort Lee, Virginia, to complete tech school. She will be stationed at Fairchild Air Force Base in the state of Washington to serve her country. Paige is a 2016 graduate of Sterling High School, and is the daughter of Traci and Panfi Temiquel and the granddaughter of Jerry and Vicky Purl.

60th Anniversary Open house on Jan. 15 in Dixon Mr. & Mrs. John Dempsey Mr. and Mrs. John “Jack” Dempsey of Dixon will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary Jan. 12, 2017. John Edward Dempsey and Sharon Lynn Holtzhauer were married Jan. 12, 1957, at St. Patrick’s rectory, Dixon. The couple farmed in the area for
35 years, moved to Arizona, and now have moved back to Dixon. Both are retired now. They have three children, Dennis (Ronda Hicks) Dempsey of Dixon; Dan (Annette) Dempsey of Sachse, Texas; and Lynn (Keith) Miller of Harmon. Leffelman & Associates Announces the Retirement of Gary Zinke and Linda Purvis on January 1, 2017 We, at Leffelman and Associates, are announcing the retirement of Gary Zinke and Linda Purvis on January 1, 2017. We are saddened to lose such dedicated employees but delighted for them to enjoy their retirements that they greatly deserve. Gary and Linda have been instrumental in helping Larry grow Leffelman & Associates from a small one-man independent agency to a 3-office, 13-employee agency that writes multi-lines of business throughout Northern Illinois. Gary joined Larry and Rose Leffelman and Rosalie Full in January of 1980, coming with experience as an adjuster from Country Companies. Since Gary grew up on a farm (and has continued to help his brother, Dave, farm), he was able to focus on the farm and crop insurance so Larry could focus on the commercial insurance. Gary became a trusted partner to many farmers in Lee, Bureau, and LaSalle counties, writing not only their farm and crop insurance, but also life, health, auto and other personal lines. We will miss Gary’s easy going, happy personality and dedication to his job and clients. Gary and his wife, Janet, have 4 children and 13 grandchildren. Gary enjoys farming with his brother, woodworking, golf, and traveling. Linda came to us on March 1st of 1980 when Larry decided that we had enough business from the LaMoille area to open an office in town to better serve those customers. And serve them she has! Linda’s leadership in customer service has been an immeasurable asset to our agency, making sure that each new employee understood the significance of this integral part of our business. Linda has helped develop a culture of service in our agency that is second to none. Her many dedicated customers are evidence of her commitment. We will miss Linda’s wealth of knowledge and superb efficiency. Linda is looking forward to volunteering more in her church and spending more time with her son, Troy, daughter-in-law, Kim, and grandchildren, Madi, Ross, and Olivia. Gary and Linda have each developed large books of business that they have agreed to be available to consult with us in order to continue to service our customers’ insurance needs. Lexi Klein will assume the role of LaMoille office manager on January 1, 2017. Riley Klein will take on Gary’s farm and crop customers while Tess Fleming will service Gary’s life, health, auto, and home customers. Open house for former teacher True to her last name, Lois has been “Livengood” for many years and is anxiously looking forward to celebrating her 100th birthday on Jan. 11, 2017. An open house will be in her honor from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, 2016, at Dixon Church of the Brethren, 215 North Court St., Dixon. The omission of gifts has been requested. She was born to Abram and Grace Piatt on Jan. 11, 1917. She married Lyle Livengood May 29, 1941. All during their married life, Lyle farmed in Milledgeville,
and Lois was a home economics teacher at Milledgeville High School. Lyle died in August 1999. Shortly afterward, she moved to Dixon. She is an avid reader, has done oil and acrylic painting, enjoys adult coloring, working sudoku puzzles, and is an active member of Dixon Church of the Brethren. She has one daughter, Janet Hoover of Dixon; one granddaughter, Dawn Hoover of Denver; and one great-grandson, Troy Hoover of Houston. Cards may be sent to 620 N. Ottawa Ave., Dixon, IL 61021.

As a special way to preserve these memorable occasions, quarter-, halfor full-page announcements can be purchased. Paid announcements are determined by word count: no more than 125 words for a quarter page, no more than 250 words for a half page, and up to 340 words for a full page. Those paying for announcements will have the opportunity to proof them before publication. Customers will be called when the announcement is ready to be proofed. At that time, any corrections or additions can be made as needed at SVM’s Dixon and Sterling offices. For convenience, proofs will be emailed without calls whenever possible. Photos may be submitted in color or black and white, and in any size. Emailed photos should be
in JPEG format with a resolution of 200 and a width of at least 5 inches for best quality. All announcements can be printed without photos if desired. Celebration forms are available at the Telegraph and Daily Gazette classified departments or by email. Sauk Valley Media is not responsible for errors due to unreadable information. A daytime phone number and email address (if available) are requested to help to ensure accuracy. Weddings are available in basic (free) form (one photo only of the couple), quarter-page paid (one photo), half-page paid (two photos), and fullpage paid (up to four photos). The wedding form should be returned preferably within 2 to 4 months after the wedding date. Engagements are available in basic (free) form (one photo of the couple), two styles of quarter-page
paid (one photo only), half-page paid (two photos), and full-page paid (up to four photos). Anniversary announcements are available in the basic (free) form (one current photo only of the couple), quarter-page paid (one or two photos), half-page paid (two photos), and full-page paid (up to four photos). Announcements beginning with the 25th anniversary, and then in 5-year increments up to 60 years, can be at no charge. Other increments will require a paid announcement. Anniversaries from 61 to 69 can be published in the free format without the 5-year increment restriction. Special wording will require a paid announcement. Anniversaries of 70 years and more are at no charge in a paid format; the announcement size will be determined by the editor. Birthday announcements for area seniors 80 years of age and older can
be at no charge without special wording. There is a charge for those younger than 80. The basic (free) form (one current photo of the individual), quarter-page paid (one or two photos), half-page paid (two photos), and full-page paid (up to four photos) are available. For 100th and older birthdays, SVM will publish free announcements in a paid format; the announcement size will be determined by the editor. Reunions are for area residents who are gathering, or have gathered, for a family or class reunion. Reunion items will be edited due to space limitations, and lists of all those attending are not available in the free format. Photos also are not available for a free announcement, but can be used in any of the paid announcements. If a large group photo is submitted, only one can be used in the
quarter-page format, one photo is recommended in the half-page format, and up to four normally can be used in the fullpage format. Large group photos with long lists of names may require at least a half-page paid announcement. Note: A group photo for a class reunion only can be submitted at no charge for the Scrapbook page of SV Weekend by email to photos@saukvalley.com or in person. For publication in Celebrations, class reunions of 70 years and more will be available in the quarterpage format at no charge, with a photo allowed. Five-generation and four-generation photos with names, relationships, and places of residence of those pictured may be submitted for publication. Multiple photos from the same submitter will need to be on a paid basis. Generation announcements are, of course, available on a paid (cus-
tom) basis in quarterpage (one photo), halfpage (two photos), and full-page (up to four photos) form. Other celebrations include retirements, promotions, awards, honors, baptisms, confirmations, baby’s arrival (able to contain more information than standard birth announcements, along with a photo), and other occasions.
