uring the Romeoville Area Chamber of Commerceâs 2021 State of the Village Address on May 25, Mayor John D. Noak applauded a reduction in property taxes and a 70% increase in retail sales in the village since he took over in 2008.

Those numbers should remain favorable as economic development remains strong in Romeoville. The biggest player is Wayfair Inc., which is in the process of constructing a 1.2 million square foot building along Renwick Road. âThey hope to be done by next year, and this is a major e-commerce operation,â Noak said. Romeoville has âtruly become a hub for e-commerce,â Noak noted during his address. âAs that has become a greater part of the nationâs economy, it has allowed us to be as successful as weâve been throughout the pandemic,â he said. âAnd continue to thrive and grow because of our diversification on this.â CONTINUED ON PAGE 2
