CRUISE NIGHTS RETURN Discover summer fun on Tuesday nights in downtown Plainfield By Melissa Rubalcaba Riske
I
t may be called Cruise Nights but neighbors know it’s as much about the stroll as it is about checking out the parade of vehicles.
In the summer the return of Cruise Nights in downtown Plainfield brings neighbors together and creates a feeling of community on Tuesday nights. Whether its catching up over appetizers before checking out the weekly vehicles or stopping for an ice cream treat for the family. For the volunteers with the Plainfield-Shorewood Area Chamber of Commerce 2026 marks the 13th year of managing the weekly event that draws thousands to the community. “We can see an average of 3,000 visiting on a Cruise Night,” said Tasha Marsaglia, Executive Director for the Plainfield Shorewood Area Chamber of Commerce. It takes a team of volunteers to manage the weekly event, from directing traffic to assisting vehicles to find open spaces and re-opening the downtown passage at the end of the evening. Cruise Nights runs 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesdays, June 2 to Aug. 18, with only one week off, July 21, due to Plainfield Fest. CONTINUED ON PAGE 2
