With that notion in mind, we have some news to share regarding our Obstetrical Services at St. Margaret’s Health. In November of 2021, St. Margaret’s Health Illinois to discontinue its Obstetrics Unit in Spring Valley and consolidate its Obstetrical Services to the St. Margaret’s Health – Peru hospital campus. The state recently approved that application. As of March 15, 2022, all deliveries are being performed at our St. Margaret’s Health - Peru OB Unit.

HARLEY STERLING Agronomy major Harley Sterling of Princeton is happy he began his college career in Illinois Valley Community College’s agriculture program. “I chose IVCC because it was close, affordable, and offered a good education,” Sterling says. To succeed in college, he recommends students “get involved, make friends and ask questions.”
NINI HOANG NiNi Hoang of Streator is studying Computer Aided Design at Illinois Valley Community College before transferring to Northern Illinois University for her bachelor’s degree. She is President of the student organization “Women in Technology” and is a student employee for the CAD, Electronics and Electricity programs. Hoang, a second year student, is attending IVCC along with her sister Kathy, a freshman. “IVCC was a smart choice,” she says. She encourages incoming students to join a student club and focus on the big picture. “Students should get involved and not stress the little things,” Hoang said.

Ottawa Dental Laboratory Great Experiences… Lasting Smiles
Founded in 1937, the Ottawa Dental Laboratory has served the dental community for 85 years. This third generation, family owned and operated company has evolved with this ever-changing, dynamic industry. Luke Caruso, III, President & Chief Operating Officer said, “We’re committed to the investment of new technology, new materials, and product development to keep us on the cutting edge in order to maintain our position in the industry and to sustain the pace of our strategic growth.” Digital dentistry has catapulted the industry into milling and 3D printing technology. The Ottawa Dental Laboratory adopted CAD/CAM technology in the mid-90’s and remains at the forefront of the industry. Technology-driven production has increased significantly resulting in the creation of new positions and the need for expansion. In 2019, the Ottawa Dental Laboratory opened a second Ottawa facility at 1615 E. Norris Drive
to house their digital workflow, expand production, and support additional CAD/CAM equipment. Over the last few years, expansion has played an important role in the success of the Ottawa Dental Laboratory. With two locations in Ottawa, others in Chicago and Bloomington, Illinois, and one in South Bend, Indiana, in 2021 they expanded their footprint into the Midwest by acquiring three laboratories in Racine, Appleton, and Greendale, Wisconsin, as well as one in Springfield, Illinois. This rapid growth allows the Ottawa Dental Laboratory to offer more jobs in these local communities. By the end of last year, the total number of employees working for the Ottawa Dental Laboratory had grown to 362 across all locations. SOCU – Continuing to Invest in Members, Technology & Community Streator Onized Credit Union (SOCU), a community-focused financial institution has proudly served the community since 1939. Steinberg’s: Customer service before, during and after sale Just seven money-saving minutes southwest of the Peru Mall. That’s the way Bruce Steinberg of Steinberg’s Furniture likes to describe the location where the 133-year-old family-run business has been servicing generations of customers. “We’re a little off the beaten path,” said Steinberg, who is the fourth generation to operate the store. “We’re not on the north end of town, but rather the west end, on U.S. Route 6, just a block from local icons like the Igloo and Lou’s LaGrotto. But we’re definitely worth the trip. Our building looks small from the highway, but it’s deceiving because we have 30,000 square feet of display space”. US Army Corps of Engineers Continues Lock Infrastructure Focus One local essential mode of transportation continues to get much-needed attention. Built during the Great Depression, the eight locks on the Illinois Waterway continue to play a critical global role. More than 60 percent of the world’s corn and soybeans are grown in the Midwest. Waterways are the most efficient and least environmentally destructive mode of transport for these crops as well as many other commodities. Additionally, these maintenance projects on the locks also create thousands of jobs. Lock closures scheduled for 2020, 2022, and 2023 will update crucial equipment. Updated miter gates, operating equipment and concrete work are some
of the projects being completed. When finished, the US Corps of Engineers will be able to extend the operational life of the locks for years to come. This invest-
ment allows the Midwest to remain competitive in a global economy and provides a more reliable product for our customers who rely on the Corps for their

Solon Funeral Home gives a sense of home From the moment you walk through the doors at Solon-Telford Funeral Home, you feel a sense of home.
