Fighting for You: SGKR’s Four-Decade Legacy of Justice in the Illinois Valley

When life takes an unexpected turn — a workplace accident, a serious injury, or a devastating diagnosis — having the right legal team in your corner can make all the difference. Schweickert, Ganassin, Krzak and Rundio, LLP (SGKR) now known to the area as SGKR Injury Law has been that team for Illinois Valley residents since 1977, building a reputation as one of the region’s most trusted personal injury and workers’ compensation firms.

With offices in Peru, Ottawa, Morris, and Chicago, SGKR Injury Law is never far when you need them most.

DEEP ROOTS, PROVEN RESULTS

Nearly 50 years of advocacy doesn’t happen by accident. SGKR Injury Law has earned its standing in the Illinois Valley through decades of genuine commitment to the people they represent. The firm’s attorneys

bring more than 70 years of combined experience to every case — experience that translates directly into better outcomes for clients navigating some of the most difficult moments of their lives.

At SGKR Injury Law, legal representation goes beyond courtrooms and case files.

The firm’s attorneys understand that injury victims are often overwhelmed — physically, emotionally, and financially. That’s why they place equal emphasis on guiding clients through the process as they do on fighting aggressively for the compensation those clients deserve.

COMPREHENSIVE COVERAGE WHEN IT MATTERS MOST

SGKR Injury Law handles the full spectrum of personal injury cases, including workers’ compensation claims, car and truck accidents, slip and fall incidents, medical malpractice, nursing

home abuse, and wrongful death lawsuits. Whatever the circumstances, the firm’s approach is the same: personalized attention combined with relentless legal advocacy tailored to each client’s unique situation.

SPECIALIZED MESOTHELIOMA REPRESENTATION

Among SGKR’s most important work is their specialized representation of mesothelioma victims and their families. These cases demand a rare combination of complex legal knowledge, medical understanding, and genuine compassion — and it’s a combination SGKR Injury Law has developed and refined over many years of practice. For families confronting an asbestos-related diagnosis, SGKR Injury Law provides not just legal expertise, but a steady, knowledgeable guide through extraordinarily difficult terrain.

JUSTICE SHOULDN’T DEPEND ON YOUR FINANCES

One of the hallmarks of SGKR’s community-focused philosophy is their commitment to accessibility. The firm offers free case evaluations, ensuring that quality legal representation is available to anyone who needs it — regardless of financial circumstances. It’s a reflection of the same values that have kept SGKR Injury Law serving Illinois Valley families for nearly five decades. If you or someone you love is dealing with a personal injury, workplace accident, or mesothelioma diagnosis, SGKR Injury Law offers the experience, dedication, and compassionate support to help you move forward. Visit SGKRLAW.COM to learn more or schedule your free consultation. For personal injury matters, call 815-640-SGKR (7457). For mesothelioma-related cases, call 815-640-MESO (6376).

Theos Audiology Solutions: Committed to Finding the Best Hearing Solution

Hearing loss is more than a nuisance. It’s a loss of communication. It’s the feeling of missing out, wondering what was the joke that was missed, what was the funny story someone just shared.

Studies show that hearing loss can affect the brain and cognitive abilities. Untreated hearing loss has been linked to cognitive decline, depression and anxiety.

Time and again, the team at Theos Audiology Solutions hears its patients question why they waited so long to commit to a hearing solution and regain their life and joy.

Dr. Kendra Theodosopoulos is committed to helping her clients find the best hearing solution. She is proud to serve the Illinois Valley, where she was born, raised and continues to call home for her own family. She has built a successful practice with

locations in Peru, Galesburg and Streator, serving patients throughout the Illinois Valley.

Last year her husband, Bill, joined the practice bringing his years of experience in the field of engineering to Theos Audiology Solutions as a

hearing instrument specialist trainee as he works toward his license. Last year Tyler Swedeen also joined the practice as a hearing instrument specialist in the Peru and Streator locations.

One of the first faces most patients meet is Maricia Cocanour, the patient care coordinator and audiology assistant, who has been with the practice since the beginning and previously with Connect Hearing. Kennedi Clark is another friendly face who serves as the patient care coordinator for the Galesburg location.

Dr. Theodosopoulos became an audiologist to help people maintain communication and stay active and healthy in their lives.

“We want to help our patients bring back those activities they love and regain the joys in their life, like attending a music concert, spending

time with loved ones,” Dr. Theodosopoulos said.

Technology has made hearing aids sleeker, smaller and more versatile. Some make it possible to take calls, answer text messages and listen to music. Hearing devices have improved functions to reduce background noises and help with speech clarification.

Clients can return to the activities they love, like dining out without the clatter of rattling dishes or playing pickleball without voice echoes in the gymnasium.

At Theos Audiology Solutions patients can count on continued care through their journey, from initial exams and a device fitting to continued follow-up and maintenance.

“We treat you like family and we want to make sure you are happy,” Dr. Theodosopoulos said.

Connecting Point: A Story 60 Years in the Making

Sixty years ago, technology looked very different. Computers filled rooms, not pockets. Networks existed only in government labs. And in 1966, right here in North Central Illinois, Connecting Point began its journey—one built on curiosity, craftsmanship, and a simple belief: technology should make life easier, not harder.

In those early days, customers came to us with questions that felt brand new because they were brand new. What’s a personal computer? How does software work? Can this machine really help my business? And our team—small but determined—made it their mission to provide answers, solutions, and the kind of patient guidance that only a true local business can offer.

As the world changed, so did we. When home computers became commonplace, we were there to help families adopt their first desktops. When the Internet arrived, we helped businesses get

North Central Illinois. Today, our headquarters in downtown Peru serves as the home base for a team that blends decades of experience with today’s most advanced IT solutions. Our CP Care Managed IT keeps businesses running smoothly around the clock, while our EDR/ MDR security, disaster recovery services, and network expertise protect companies large and small. We design the infrastructure that keeps offices connected, secure, and productive—whether it’s WiFi, fiber, copper, routing, switching, or firewalls.

And while the technology has become complex, our values have stayed simple. Families still come to us for computer repairs, replacements, upgrades, and honest guidance. Businesses trust us with secure email, backups, vulnerability testing, and even co-location in our data center.

It’s a blend of past and present—traditional service with modern capability.

Because at its heart, Connecting Point isn’t just about technology. It’s about community. It’s about relationships. It’s about being the steady hand that helps people make sense of a fast moving digital world.

Sixty years is a long time in the tech industry. Companies rise and fall. Trends come and go. But we are here, rooted in North Central Illinois building the future while honoring the past.

Whether you’re launching a business, upgrading a network, fixing a home computer, or just looking for someone who you can trust to guide you through the ever changing world of technology, Connecting Point’s team is ready—just as we have been since 1966.

Quality Care Cleaning turns 30

Three decades. For Tami Thomas-Leonatti it can seem like an entirely different lifetime ago when she helped launch Quality Care Cleaning, her family business that turns 30 this year.

Flipping through newspaper clippings, looking back at old photos she remembers the excitement she felt in 1996 when she and her first husband launched Quality Care Cleaning to provide janitorial services in the Illinois Valley. In business, as in life there have been ups and downs, challenges and new opportunities, and through it all family and community have remained at the center of it all.

After her first husband died, Thomas-Leonatti decided to continue managing the business on her own while raising her young family. She calls it a blessing to find love a second time, and

in finding Greg, she found another business partner who helped Thomas-Leonatti and her children to continue building their brands and companies to satisfy the needs they saw in the Illinois Valley.

Under GTL Enterprises the family business has expanded beyond janitorial cleaning to include janitorial cleaning supplies. Additionally, it has launched the companies Secure Key Solutions, a commercial locksmith business, G & T Rental Group and Management for rental services and Illinois Valley Radon Mitigation.

Answering the needs in the community goes beyond businesses for Thomas-Leonatti. Through her volunteer time with the Ottawa Business Builders, she and Cherie Reynolds stepped up to plan the first Black and White Ball to support the Easter Seals of

La Salle and Bureau Counties in the year 2010. They continued managing the ball for its first five years.

“The community is such a huge part of my business and a huge part of me giving back,” Thomas-Leonatti said.

Thomas-Leonatti isn’t one to shy away from a challenge. Concern for the health and safety of her staff and clients, she moved her company to complete the RMC Green Cleaning Program in 2006.

“We were one of the first janitorial services to promote Green Cleaning in our area,” Thomas-Leonatti said.

Her employees become part of the family, like Lorrie Lauf, director of operations who keeps things moving in the right direction, Thomas-Leonatti said.

When she launched the business 30 years ago, her youngest son was still in preschool. Today, he helps

manage one of the family companies and Thomas-Leonatti is working to support the next generation in her family. She’s working toward the goal of launching a nonprofit childcare center. In welcoming her grandchildren, Thomas-Leonatti has come to recognize a tremendous deficit in childcare providers in the Illinois Valley. With more childcare resources, parents can work and support their families.

For Thomas-Leonatti, her work on the latest company is fitting in that family has always been at the core of her life.

“My legacy that I want to leave is putting my family first because they’re the reason I do this,” Thomas-Leonatti said. “Second, I want my legacy for that of giving and my love of the community because of all they have given to me and my family.”

A family of companies dedicated to meeting all your residential and business needs.
