Sara Haines OF THE VIEW ON ABC Q: Wasn’t Sara Haines, of “The View,” on “Today” many years ago? A: She was, and she actually worked behind the scenes of the NBC morning show before becoming an on-air presence on it. In fact, she was behind the scenes at the network overall, since she initially was a page, assisting on various programs and also giving studio tours. After her time doing that, she became a production coordinator on “Today,” again filling a variety of functions in helping to get the show on the air. Eventually, Haines became a contributing correspondent for the fourth hour of “Today” from 2009 to 2013, which set her up to make a move to ABC News. Though she did general reporting, she also became the entertainment-news anchor on weekend editions of “Good Morning America.” That gave her a visibility that surely helped when “The View” needed someone at its table, a job Haines filled a number of times as a guest before she was named a permanent co-host of the show in 2016. In 2018, Haines left “The View” to join Michael Strahan as a host of a third weekday hour of “Good Morning America,” with Keke Palmer joining them later as another host. When the coronavirus pandemic began in 2020, that incarnation of the hour was replaced by “GMA3: What You Need to Know” (which has remained since), and Haines returned to “The View.” Haines also has done other work for ABC, in both news and entertainment programming. She has hosted a version of the game show “The Chase,” and she recently served as a correspondent – along with W. Kamau Bell – for the 17th season of the John Quinones-hosted “What Would You Do?”
