Psychiatric Services
Capstone employs one part-time psychiatrist and two full-time Physician’s Assistants (PA), two parttime Physician’s Assistants and a full-time ARNP. These providers work with patients and their mental health therapist (if applicable) to diagnose and treat mental health conditions with the use of psychotropic medications.
Mental Health Services
Our large treatment staff brings extensive experience in mental health treatment and expertise needed to treat a variety of mental health concerns for children, adults, couples, and families.
Substance Abuse Services
Capstone employs two counselors who can provide substance abuse services. Both providers complete substance abuse evaluations, for clients who are self-referred or have been referred by the courts. These providers also complete OWI evaluations. An individualized treatment plan will be created for each client, and follow-up appointments will be scheduled consistently throughout treatment based on each client’s specific needs. Finally, each provider will work with the client’s mental health counselor (if applicable) to ensure proper care for both substance abuse and mental health diagnoses is being provided.

Psychological Testing
Psychological testing - also called psychological assessment - is the foundation of how psychologists better understand a person and their behavior. It is a process of a problem solving for many professionals - to try and determine the core components of a person’s psychological or mental health problems, IQ, or some other component. It is also a process that helps identify not just weaknesses of a person, but also their strengths. • ADHD • ID Waiver • Bariatric • Dementia • MMPI
Peer Support:
Peer support services provide help and support to individuals by drawing on the personal, lived experiences of someone who has navigated similar challenges, such as mental health conditions or substance use disorders. These non-clinical services foster recovery, empowerment, and community by offering shared understanding, mutual respect, and hope, as peer support specialists use their own journey to connect with and guide others toward recovery goals.
Justice Involved Services
The Justice Involved services is available to individuals in Jasper and Poweshiek Counties who are in contact with the criminal justice system because of a mental health or co-occurring disorder. Jail Diversion Program staff are able to assist with locating housing, applying for food assistance/community assistance programs, assistance in locating employment, budgeting, ensuring appropriate medical and behavioral health care is in place, promoting independent living skills and identifying and intervening where there are gaps in care, and strengthening natural supports. Staff also provide goal-related transportation.
Representative Payee
Capstone Behavioral Healthcare Representative Payee Services Assist individuals who receive Social Security Disability or Supplemental Security Income Benefits through the Social Security Administration. The Representative Payee manages benefits for individuals who are unable to successfully manage their own finances and pay their monthly bills consistently.
Supported Community Living
Capstone has a 3 group homes and a 16 unit apartment building that offers Supported Community Living Services. Capstone Supported Community Living offers access to staff 24 hours a day, but these staff are not on site continuously. This site is a habilitation funded site. This site also offers access to staff 24 hours a day and currently is staffed based on each individual and their needs. Capstone Behavioral Healthcare Community Support Program helps adults with chronic mental illness who are living in their own apartments or homes in the community. Services provided are goal oriented and tailored to meet individual needs.
