Nancy Petersen, Lee County Clerk and Recorder would like to announce that beginning Thursday, February 5, 2026 Vote By Mail and Early Voting will be conducted in the Election Department of her office, first floor of the Old Lee County Courthouse, 112 E. Second St., Dixon.
VOTE BY MAIL ~ signed applications will be accepted through Thursday, March 12, 2026, and is available for properly registered Lee County voters. Applications are available on the website or by contacting the Election Department of her office.

GRACE PERIOD VOTING
Individuals that have not properly registered prior to the close of registration (February 17, 2026) and wish to vote in the March 17, 2026 General Primary Election may register to vote and cast a ballot during Grace Period Voting.
Qualifications for Grace Period Voting:
Must be a US citizen
Must be 18 years of age by November 3, 2026 General Election Must claim Lee County as their permanent residence
Must have resided within their precinct for 30 days preceding the election
Must display a current state-issued photo ID and/or two other forms of identification verifying their name and current address within Lee County

Notice is hereby given that February 17, 2026 is the last day registrations or transfers can be accepted in her office. Please contact the Election Department at 815-288-3309 for the names of Deputy Registrars in your area.
Anyone who has never registered in Lee County, has moved within the county, or has had a change of name since the last election must be registered and have the correct name and address if they wish to vote in this election. First time registrants shall (by March 17, 2026 General Primary Election) have resided in their precinct for 30 days and must be 18 years of age on or before the November 3, 2026 General Election.

Nancy Petersen’s office complies with the federal voting accessibility laws. All properly registered voters are eligible to vote by mail. Voters wishing to vote by mail may contact her office to request an application. Upon receipt of a signed application, a ballot will be mailed to the voter. The last day a ballot can be mailed is March 12, 2026, five days before this election.

VOTING – Will be conducted in the Election Department, first floor of the Old Lee County Courthouse beginning on February 5, 2026. Voting hours are: Monday through Friday, 8:15 am until 4:15 pm and 9 am until noon on Saturday, March 14, 2026. We are closed on legal holidays.
To comply with the federal voting accessibility law, election judges are allowed to deliver a ballot to any voter who is not able to get into the polling place. A request must be made to the Election Department prior to Election Day to make arrangements for two judges to deliver a ballot to a voter within 50 feet of the polling place. To reach the Election Department please call 815-288-3309 during normal business hours.
