Following graduation from Coe College with a BA degree in History, he spent 40 years working as a K-12 educator in both parochial and public school settings. The first 20 years as a 7-12 Social Studies instructor and coach followed by 20 years as a K-12 administrator. During the course of his professional career, Dr. Hoover earned his MA and Ed.D degrees from the University of Northern Iowa. Since retiring from the Newton (Iowa) Community School District as Director of Educational Services, Dr. Hoover has continued to reside in Newton where he remains involved in various community service activities. As a way of satisfying his interest in local history, Dr. Hoover has researched the early days of The Maytag Company resulting in this book about the inventive career of Howard Snyder.
