The John Jenkins Family can never properly thank the Newton Community and Jasper County for the heart warming support and love we have received since 1980. A young John Jenkins was thinking about getting out of the teaching/coaching profession. He was told by his younger sister, Brenda, who just happened to be the former Journalism teacher in Newton, that an Industrial Arts position was open. John went to the interview and was hired on the spot by Bruce Hoffmeier. We thought we would be in Newton a couple of years before moving on because the chance to coach Varsity at a power-house like Newton was slim to none. Boy, were we wrong. That was just the beginning of a life-long adventure for John.
