Graduation from a college or university with at least an Associate’s degree in Police Science, Law Enforcement, Criminal Justice, Public Administration or a related ďŹ eld. A combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. Ten (10) years experience in police operations, including at least ďŹ ve (5) years of law enforcement supervisory experience is preferred. Candidates must have a valid driver’s license and meet the licensing standards established by the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy. The successful candidate will be required to obtain their EMT-B certiďŹ cation within one year of appointment. Police Chief is an FLSA exempt position. Salary dependent on education and experience. Competitive beneďŹ t package, including IPERS. City prefers candidate live in the city of Baxter, a reasonable response time may be considered in lieu of city residency.
