WELCOME TO THE 18 TH EDITION OF THE MCHENRY COUNTY GREEN GUIDE! Here’s what you need to know for 2024: • At the time of printing, there is no household hazardous waste collection event scheduled for McHenry County. There may still be one planned, so check back with the Sustainability Center or the McHenry County Health Department. In the meantime, go to page 8 for options. • New legislation was recently passed regarding paint collection. Please see Kelli Boeckmann’s article on page 11 to learn about the plans for local paint collection centers. • A special welcome and thanks to our guest author this year, Ashley Lange. Please see her insightful article on page 19. • We are taking a break from hosting the popular Green Living Expo this November. We want to update the event and would love to know what you’d like to see going forward. Email sustainability@mchenry.edu with ideas! • The Sustainability Center is a partner for Planet Palooza this summer. Mark your calendars for Sunday, July 14 on the Woodstock Square for a fun and educational event. Interested in a table? Email sustainability@mchenry.edu. • As always, contact us with any recycling tips, ideas, or questions. We are also happy to come speak with your group or organization about any sustainability-related topics.
