$10,000 grant will be used to help pay for master’s degree Kelley Koester, the agriculture instructor and FFA advisor at Forreston High School, is one of the four individuals to receive the IAA Foundation Ag Ed Teacher Grant. She was surprised in her animal science class on Sept. 9 with the news. “I am super excited to be here at Forreston,” Koester said. “This grant is a wonderful honor and will help me and my family moving forward. “I have so many goals for building this program. New this year to the Ag program is an official trapshooting team where we will shoot and be ranked nationally, an aquaponics system and more leadership opportunities for students with alumni backing. “The students are excited, I am excited and I know there excitement building around us in the community.” This grant is open to first-year teachers who are full-time with a minimum of 50 percent agriculture-related courses and activities. It is open to traditionally licensed teachers with an Agricultural Education Degree from a four-year university. They must be teaching at a school in Illinois and must intend to continue on a path as a high school agriculture teacher in Illinois. The $10,000 grant, which will be distributed over five years, is for the teacher’s personal use, to help to pay off student loans and pay for the extra time put into the program. “I am planning on using the grant to

County board pays tribute to Gouker John Finfrock elected as new Ogle County Board Chairman BY VINDE WELLS vwells@oglecountynews.com

The chair at the center of the Ogle County Board table sat vacant Tuesday night in memory of board chairman Kim Gouker, who died unexpectedly a week earlier.

Gouker, 66, was found dead in his home in Byron on Sept. 10. A suit jacket, like the ones Gouker typically wore, was hung over the back of his chair and a red rose lay on the table at his place. Vice chairman John Finfrock, of Mt. Morris, paid tribute to his friend and colleague. “Kim’s passing was a complete surprise and shock,” he said. “I was honored when he asked me if I would serve with him as vice chairman. We didn’t always agree, but one thing we did agree on was that we had the best people, the best board, and the best department

heads we could ask for.” The board’s first order of business was to elect Gouker’s replacement. Finfrock got the board’s unanimous approval to fill the vacancy, and Patricia Nordman, of Oregon, was elected vice chairman. The board also announced a board vacancy in District 6, where Gouker served. The seat must be filled within 60 days, and applications for the post will be accepted through Oct. 10 at the county clerk’s office. Gouker was elected to the county

A 72-year-old Polo man has been charged with sexually molesting a child. Patrick W. Schill was arrested by Polo police on Sept. 14 on two counts predatory criminal sexual assault of a child, a Class X felony. According to a press release from Police Chief Jon Mandrell, Schill was arrested after police executed a search warrant at 604 N. Franklin Ave. in Polo. He is being held at the Ogle County Jail in lieu of $150,000 bond, which was set at a hearing Sept. 16. A preliminary hearing is set of Oct. 1. Patrick W. Schill The case remains under investigation and anyone with additional information is encouraged to call Mandrell at 815-946-2444. A Class X felony carries a possible prison sentence of six to 60 years.

Fire whistle gets upgrade The fire whistle in Forreston is being upgraded to digital. Currently, it will be used only for storm warnings.

He was instrumental in the planning and building of the Ogle County Judicial Center, the restoration of the historic Ogle County Courthouse, and the planning and building of the new Ogle County Jail that is currently under construction. The board recognized Gouker’s service to the county with a resolution declaring Saturday, Sept. 21 as Kim P. Gouker Day to “encourage all residents of Ogle County to join in remembrance and recognition of our county’s John Finfrock great public servant.” In a statement released last week, state’s attorney Eric Morrow said Gouker “worked tirelessly for the good of Ogle County and had an extensive knowledge of county government.” “Since his election as chairman in 2012, the Ogle County Board has been a cohesive and productive legislative body,” Morrow said. “Chairman Gouker will be missed, not only for his contributions to local government, but also his wit and personality.” Gouker’s body was discovered by Byron police officers doing a welfare check. Coroner Lou Finch said Sept. 12 that an autopsy was performed the day before but did not release a cause of death pending the results of lab tests. A complete obituary appears on page 20.

Disciples UMC to host GriefShare Support Group Disciples United Methodist Church, Mt. Morris will host a GriefShare Support Group, beginning Thursday, Sept. 26 from 6 to 7:30 p.m., in the Fireplace Room at the church, 102 Maple Ave. The group will meet every Thursday evening through Nov. 7, with a session called Surviving the Holidays. The group will resume on March 12 and conclude on April 23. GriefShare is a support group that features faith-based teaching focus-

ing on grief topics associated with the death of a loved one. The DVD portion features nationally respected grief experts and reallife stories of people, followed by quiet listening and sharing in a safe small group. Past participants have related how helpful the information and follow up fellowship were to them. Many grieving people find they are only beginning the work of healing when friends or family have already returned to their daily life routines.

Confidentiality is very much a part of this program. Your bereavement experience may be recent or years ago. You will find encouragement, comfort and help in grieving the death of a spouse, child, parent, sibling, other family member, or friend. No matter what the cause of your loved one’s death, this is an opportunity to be around people who understand what you are feeling. You will learn how to recognize the symptoms of being stuck in grief as

well as receive valuable information about facing your new normal in life and renewing your hope for the future. GriefShare is available to anyone in the church, community, or surrounding towns. This evergreen was rumored to be diseased but actually the real reason was perhaps it had gotten to big to put Christmas lights on anymore. The tree was pronounced healthy by experts. I guess the question is: Do we really want to take down a healthy tree when

it is not endangering anyone or anything just because it is no longer handy for Christmas lights? Perhaps our energy and concerns could be used in better ways...and one healthy tree should not be sacrificed as too big for a month’s worth of Christmas lights when the town is full of dead ash

Warmolts created a hospital, clinic in Oregon Editor’s note: Otto Dick, Oregon, has researched the people, places, and events important in the Oregon area’s history for the Ogle County Historical Society. The following is one of a series of the articles he has written.

BY OTTO DICK The apartment complex north of St. Mary Catholic Church on Fourth Street is the footprint of Dr. Lambertus Warmolts. The 1942 Oregon Reporter newspaper announced “Oregon’s New Hospital Now Enters Service.” This 109 by 72 foot building faced with white brick was designed by architect Willis Hubbard, of Rockford, and the builder was Charles Mongan, of Oregon. This was Dr. Warmolts’ third hospital. His first hospital was at the home he purchased just south of the old Oregon Golf Course. He converted this home into a hospital. His first patient was a mother delivering a baby lying on a camp cot for the delivery. His second hospital was located on the second floor above the corner drug store located at the southwest corner of Washington and Third Streets. Here he created a 13-room hospital with an operating room. My partner in life Marilyn was born in this hospital. Her folks carried her down the long stairs. They must have dropped her because she married me. Dr. Warmolts’ father and mother were both born in Holland. His father Lambertus died on Oct. 15, 1947 at the age of 81. His mother Elizabeth lived 95 years. Lambertus Sr. was 20 years old when he came to this country. In 1903 they moved to Oregon. He worked as a carpenter and contractor. His two sons and daughter received their education at local schools. Many of our early settlers were born in other countries. Dr. Warmolts graduated from Oregon High School in 1911. The following is from (Viewpoint, An Oral History 1975). “During my high school days I worked on the farm all the time. My dad was a carpenter, so I did a lot of work. “I didn’t have much time for school activities. I love to dance but never went to dances at school. It was a hard life. There

I didn’t have much time. All I did for fun was water ski.” “I graduated from high school and never spoke a speech. Every Friday, they used to have a kind of an afternoon where we’d have to speak a poem or read some damn thing. “But every Friday when my turn came up, some of the cows got out. So it got to be kind of a joke with the teachers. “When I graduated they never gave me a diploma. During graduation when I marched up to receive my diploma all I got was an empty piece of paper. “It was because I didn’t give a speech or recite.” He said about 30 years ago when they were cleaning up the old Nash School House and in an old desk “they found my diploma and they mailed it to me.” “Always through my whole life, I hated to get up and talk in front of people. It doesn’t bother me when I do surgery or any kind of work, but to get up and talk to people, I just can’t, it’s a phobia.” Dr. Warmolts mentioned his parents never encouraged him to be a doctor. He said, “I did as I darn well pleased like my son did. I would have liked him to be a lawyer, but he wanted to be a law enforcer.” Marilyn worked as a nurse for a few years at Warmolts Clinic. She said Warmolts was quite a character. He usually didn’t wear hats or socks. It’s interesting to me that a young man who refused to speak in class left his footprint, a hospital in Oregon. When I drive by it’s a hospital not an apartment complex. The next article will feature Warmolts Clinic.

Forreston Junior and Senior High students participated Sept. 8 in the Grand Detour Art Show. Two were award winners. Emma Manus won third place in the 6th-8th grade category for her painting.

Annie Timmer won Judge’s Choice as well as first place in the 9th-12th grade category for two different fiber arts pieces. Both students received their awards at the show.

State officials assured a local committee last week that, barring unfavorable weather, repairs to the Black Hawk Statue will be completed by year’s end. Crystal Curfman, executive director of the Illinois Conservation Foundation, told the Black Hawk Art, Restoration & Development Committee Sept. 11 that the actual repairs would be underway in the next few days and should be finished “by the end of the year.” A crew from Brand Safway, of Chicago, started erecting the scaffolding around the 108-year-old concrete landmark on Sept. 9, but as of early this week it remained shrouded in protective wrapping as it has been for most of the last five years. Quality Restorations Inc., of Wood Dale, has been hired by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources, which has jurisdiction over the statue, to do the restoration to the surface to of the statue, which has been damaged by the ravages of time and weather. ICF Chief Operating Officer Steve Ettinger said once the scaffolding is completely in place, the black plastic tarps will come off and the statue will be examined to see if more damage has occurred since it was wrapped late last fall. He said even if additional restoration, the budget for the project will cover it. “We will be on budget as far as we can foresee,” he said. “The money can’t be swept by the state.” Committee member Roger Cain said QRI began work in June, applying various mixtures of concrete and other materials achieve the most accurate match of the original mixture. “The bottom line is we want it done right,” said George Bellovics,

Money for the plaza will be provided by the IDNR, he said, and work on it could begin as early as next year.

related to the disabled, or a fulltime undergraduate college student who is disabled or is majoring in an area related to the disabled. Polo Area Community Theatre opens its 14th season with its production of “Willy Wonka” at the Polo Town Hall, 117 N. Franklin St. Show dates are Friday, Sept. 20 and Saturday, Sept. 21 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 22 at 2 p.m. The following weekend, the shows will be Friday, Sept. at 7 p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 28 at 2 p.m. Tickets are available at the door as early as 30 minutes before show time. This is a fun musical based on Roald Dahl’s book “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.” The cast and crew for this show is made up of more than 30 adults and children and represent at least 12 towns in the community all the way from Rockford to Rock Falls and everywhere in between. Its primary mission was to help Midwest farm families to share their grain with hungry neighbors in post-World War II Europe and Asia. Build-A-Barn will hold a Spooktacular Horse Expo on Saturday, Oct. 12 and Sunday, Oct. 13 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Ogle County Fairgrounds, 1440 N. Limekiln Rd., Oregon.

St. Paul’s group donates quilts The women of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Oregon, recently donated four quilts to Al Koper, Tanya Koper-Bowers, Samantha, and Katelyn Bowers after their recent house fire.

The women meet the first and third Tuesday of each month at the church. Anyone who would be interested in joining the group should call the church office at 815-732-2367.

The public is invited to bring their horses or come to watch. A fun show with miniature horses and ponies will start on Saturday at 10 a.m. Cowboy Church will be held on Sunday at 9 a.m. followed by a fun show for horses and draft horses at 10 a.m. Both days will feature a “Trail of Terror” obstacle class, costume class, demon-

strations of horse abilities, petting zoo, mechanical bull riding, tack sale, craft fair, flea market, food, TV raffle, and camping. Forreston, Polo post wins, Oregon loses again Polo 44, Bunker Hill 14 The Marcos scored early and often in this Sept. 13 route in 8-man action in Polo. Polo scored 22 points in the first quarter and 22 more in the second quarter en route to the win.

Forreston 40, Amboy 7 The Cardinals wasted little time in securing their third win of the season jumping out to a 32-0 lead at the end of the first quarter. The game was a running clock starting a couple of minutes into the second quarter as both coaches agreed to allow the early clock. Jordan Neuschwander started the scoring for Forreston with a 37-yard run for a touchdown. Braden Politsch scored on a 4-yard run followed by 30-yard touchdown by Ethan Mulder. Dom Christensen then scored on a 27-yard run and a 1-yard run. Neuschwander was the leading rusher with 51 yards on two carries followed by Mulder with 41 yards on three carries.

Dixon 46, Oregon 14 Dixon coach Dave Smith pointed his finger at a few specific things after the Sept. 13 game in which his Dixon Dukes beat Oregon 46-14 at A.C. Bowers Field. It was the first win of the season for the Dukes. He pointed first to the defense, which set the tone early with a fourth-down stop on the Hawks’ opening drive. He pointed to the leadership of his quarterback Jacob Shafer, who executed the offense and got the ball in the hands of the Dukes’ playmakers. Finally, he pointed to Nate Long, who always seemed just a moment away from a touchdown. “He has the motor,” Smith said of Long. “Jacob did a good job of getting him the ball, and Nate just has a way of making people miss.” It started with Shafer and Long, as the two connected on a 23-yard touchdown pass to complete the Dukes’ first drive of the game. They took advantage of some matchups early in the game. They had some tall receivers were problematic for our defensive backs. We can’t mimic the speed of the game in practice because of our number problems. It took us three or four drives to get up to speed.”

Breccan is more of a runner, but he’s not afraid to throw it either. It a combination we like having.” Oregon’s Wylee Rice scored on a 5-yard run to make the score 32-14. At the prestigious First to the Finish Invitational in Peoria on Saturday, the Indians crushed everyone in 1A. With the results put up by their top five scorers, they would have also won 2A and finished near the top of 3A. With a group composed of mainly freshmen and sophomores, ‘Bago collectively ran faster times than they did in any of their 12 state titles at Detweiller. The girls conference meet with No. 2-ranked Rock Falls and 2A power Dixon will be a dandy. The ever-improving Oregon girls team was a respectable 26th out of 42 teams. The BNC was well represented at Detweiller with Dawson Smith of Rock Falls winning the 1A boys race over 560 other competitors. He is hoping to follow in the footsteps of former teammate Brayden Hamblen who was the 2016 state champ. Andrew Harshman, who logged a ton of miles this summer, placed 86th for the Hawks. The Dixon boys, who took fourth in 2A at Detweiller, are a huge favorite in conference cross country.

A former sports writer from Sauk Valley Media accomplished another milestone a couple weeks ago. Will Larkin finished up his series on the 100 Best Chicago Bears for the Chicago Tribune.

Each day he would have a well-research article on the top 100 players in Bear history. It was an unbelievable amount of work and the Tribune has made it into a book. As a young man cutting his teeth at Sauk Valley, Will was diligent and humble and such a pleasure to be around. Great to hear him making it big at the Trib. By the way, Walter Payton was selected as the No. 1 Bear with Dick Butkus No. 2. With so much being made about the Chicago Bears search for a kicker to replace the double-doinker, my

favorite moment of the whole weekend came immediately after the team’s miraculous 16-14 win over Denver. While interviewed about his kick with one second to win it, the first words out of Eddy Pineiro’s mouth was if anyone had doubts about the existence of Jesus Christ, here was proof. You could tell Pineiro relies upon a God for his strength. Publicly sharing one’s faith in Christ, like a number of high school athletes have done with me over the years, is a joy to hear.

ith three weeks in the books for football, conference pictures are becoming much clearer. Forreston and Le-Win remain heads and shoulders above everyone else in the NUIC. After blowing out Amboy with 32 first-quarter points, look for more of the same the next couple weeks for Forreston against AFC and Milledgeville. West Carroll may give the Cardinals token opposition in week six, but it appears the only legitimate regular-season workout will be against L-W. In the Big Northern, it’s Stillman, Byron and Genoa-Kingston. That’s no surprise. The biggest surprise of the season was Rock Falls beating Dixon 35-12. Let’s see, Dixon beat Oregon 46-14. Does that mean RF will beat Oregon by 55 points? Not at all. I haven’t seen Oregon play yet, but you can’t give credence to score differentials. Oregon can beat RF. Other than SV, Byron and G-K, anyone else is capable of beating each other. Well, maybe not Mendota. The once-proud program, with famed Viking fullback Bill Brown as an alum, has fallen completely on its face the last five years. Like so many other towns in this part of the state, Mendota has changing demographics. Its days of being known for football and basketball are long gone. Football especially has become a sport with the haves and have-nots, as exhibited by so many lopsided scores. I just heard a comment from an area long-timer that he expects to see more teams go to 8-man. Here’s an observational question I am posing about football: Are the fumbles, injuries and miscues in early season games a result of lack of hitting in practice?

OBITUARIES KIM P. GOUKER Kim Patrick Gouker, 66, of Byron, died at the family home on Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2019 after a short illness. He dedicated his life to conservative principles through public service and respect towards all members of the community of Ogle County and northern Illinois, and the stewardship of others including his two children. He was born on April 26, 1953 in Rockford, to Kenneth L. Gouker and Lea Rose LaFleur (Gouker) Samples. Kim went on to graduate from Byron High School in 1971. He then studied at Rock Valley College, ultimately receiving a bachelor of science degree in Economics and Math from Illinois State University. It was at Illinois State where he learned and fell in love with the principles of conservatism that guided him through life.

RICHARD P. MARKS Richard P. Marks, 94, died peacefully on Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2019 at Bridgewater Healthcare Center, Carmel, Indiana. Pop (Dick, Rich) was born March 14, 1925 to the late Frank and Charlotte Marks. He was the youngest of three. His sisters Issy and Charlotte preceded him in death. When very young he and his sisters lived in an orphanage, fortunately they were taken from there and raised by Ma Ramsey. He is survived by his son, Larry; daughter-in-law, Jody; grandchildren, Alicea and Travis. At age 17 Pop was proud to serve in the U.S. Marines during World War II. His division fought in the Pacific on Guadalcanal, Okinawa, and Iwo Jima.

BRUCE NIELSEN Bruce Nielsen, 65, of Forreston, died on Thursday, Sept. 12, 2019 at home following an extended illness. He was born in Norfolk, Nebraska on Nov. 15, 1953 and was the youngest son of Jens “Leo” and Betty (Pedersen) Nielsen. He resided there with his family until they moved to Elizabeth in 1956 and then to Hanover in 1959 on the farm. He moved to Freeport with his family after his father died.

He then chose to come back to the community of Byron, that he cherished and where he would remain to carry out his life of public service. Kim became a Certified Financial Planner, owning his own insurance, annuities and tax preparation business that served many loyal Ogle County and northern Illinois residents for more than 40 years. He was most recently a Registered Representative at Asset Financial, Inc. Kim served as campaign manager for former Representative Don Manzullo, running congressional campaigns in 1990 and again in 1992, and continued to help in subsequent campaigns. In 1992 he ran the campaign that successfully elected Don Manzullo to represent Illinois’ 16th congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives.

He served on the Byron School Board and as the Byron City Clerk. Kim was elected to the Ogle County Board in 1996 and became the board chairman in 2012. While serving on the county board, Kim was instrumental in bringing about and guiding projects that built the County Judicial Center, renovated the Ogle County Courthouse, and the construction of Ogle County’s new jail that will be completed in 2020. Kim Gouker was the proud father of Joel Aaron, 35, and Anna Patrice, 33, to whom he taught the power of silliness and to never accept limitations that society might ascribe. He is survived by his children, of Monona, Wisconsin; brother, Michael Gouker, of Phoenix, Arizona; sister,

Victoria Davis, of Streamwood; niece, Tanya Davis, of Carol Stream; niece, Heather (Stuart) Draper, of Phoenix, Arizona; niece, Meghan (Jason) Hieger, of Phoenix, Arizona; loving companion, Heidi Swanson, of Batavia; and two great nieces, a great nephew, many aunts, uncles, cousins, and loving community friends. He was predeceased by his parents. Funeral services were held on Sept. 18 at Cornerstone Family Church, 205 N. Peru St., Byron, with Pastor Randy Snider of the church co-officiating with the Rev. Dr. Mark Tusken, pastor of St. Mark’s Church, Geneva. Burial was at the Byron Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for Dark Horse Lodge, 1951 Swor Road, Springville, TN 38256, a retreat center for veterans. Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, Byron, assisted the family.

And he definitely subscribed to: “Once a Marine, always a Marine.” He married Velma (Kinnick) in the late 1940s and had one child, Larry. In 1955 the family moved to Mt. Morris, where he worked for Kable Printing Company until he was 52 years old. At that time, Sheriff Jerry Brooks allowed Pop to join the Ogle County Sheriff Department as a full-time deputy. He attended police training school with all the young recruits, graduated, and became “David 40” for 10 years, his most enjoyable employment. He always said the reason he retired at 62 was because, “They started putting computers in squad cars!”

In his spare time, he always found some project to do, and if nothing else, he would wax his car or lawn tractor. He also enjoyed coaching soft ball in the summer youth programs. A short time after he retired, he moved back to Indiana and briefly lived with his sister Charlotte. To keep busy Pop worked at Carson Square Center helping to redo store units, paint, cut grass, and pick up. He met Jodie at a community dance in Southport, fell in love, married, and were partners in life for 24 years. Over the years they went on driving trips and touched ground in all 48 of the continental United States. Most days, after supper, he and Jodie

would take “cool-off” rides in the car for miles and miles. Unfortunately, Jodie passed away in February of 2017, and Pop never recovered from losing her. Thanks goes out to the teams at Bridgewater Healthcare Center and to Heartland Hospice for caring for Pop during his last months. A special thanks goes out to Anne with Clarity Care Advocates, who became Pop’s buddy and a fantastic help to Larry and Jody during his difficult times over this past year, as he progressed through assisted living, long term care, and his passing. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 21 at 1 p.m. at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Greenwood, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be made to Clarity Care Advocates, 11650 Lantern Rd., Suite 210, Fishers, IN.

He graduated from Freeport High School and worked at Imperial Gas Station, did landscaping, and started driving truck. He worked for Barr Trucking and Asche Transfer before becoming an owner/ operator of Nielsen Trucking LLC. He loved volunteering for the Friends Forever Humane Society and being a part of its board of directors.

He had a great love for tractor pulling and being a part of the Midwest Pullers and racing three-wheelers and motorcycles. He married Jami Branthaver August 1st of 2006. He is survived by his loving wife, Jami; his daughter, Kyndra; son, Brady; grandchildren, Aleah, Kiley (Sean) Wight; and great-granddaughter, Luna; two brothers, Leslie (Carol), Arlan (Charlene); sister, Mary

(Brian); and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Ellen Reitz. He was greatly loved by friends and family and dearly missed. Funeral services were held Sept. 18 at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home, Forreston. Burial was at White Oak Cemetery, Forreston. A memorial has been established for Friends Forever. He was born on Jan. 18, 1939 in Oregon, the son of Marvin S. and Clarice (Drummond) Olson Sr. Marv married Carolyn Beck on April 14, 1973 in Mt. Morris. He served in the US Army. He worked at E.D. Etnyre for 46 years, retiring in 2001. Marv was the most wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and family man.

of Emerson Road and Galt Road in Sterling where Call struck a stop sign. He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and released on an I-bond. Sept. 9 Mitchell L. Wharff, 22, of Sterling, was stopped for

improper lane usage and speeding at 1 a.m. on First Avenue at 13th Street in Sterling and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and no insurance. He was released on an I-bond. All subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Ruth E. Pelsma, 96, of Rockford and formerly of Oregon, died on Friday, Sept. 13, 2019 at Lincolnshire Place, Loves Park. She was born on Dec. 26, 1922 in Dixon, the daughter of Henry and Daisy Mae (Lowry) Schumacher. She married to Robert B. Pelsma on June 5, 1943 in Durham, North Carolina; he died Oct. 15, 2014. Ruth was a 1940 graduate of Dixon High School and was employed in the graphic arts department of E.D. Etnyre

He was a Moose member since 1973, serving in many functions and he held many positions in the Moose. He was an avid Bears and Cubs fan, and he was an armchair coach during games. Marv loved to golf, but most of all he was a very loyal friend and he always had a smile for you. After his retirement Marv and Carolyn moved to Texas for nine years, until he wanted to spend as much time with his
