Stardust Sanctuary co-founder Leslie SanFilippo feeds horses from a nearby rescue April 30 in Elgin. The sanctuary coordinates available space through a network of regional rescues. Based on available space, the rescues distribute animals to offer the best space available and to spread out the cost of care. Stardust Sanctuary recently began assisting Karen Bingham and her many horses at her farm in Hampshire. The horses were reportedly in terrible health and were not being appropriately taken care of. After months of working with Bingham, the Stardust employees said they were told they were no longer welcome to help care for the horses.
