NEW BOLINGBROOK WEBSITE DELIVERS EVERYTHING HAPPENING IN TOWN

Visitors and locals have a new place to get the scoop on everything happening in town with the new website ChooseBolingbrook.com.

Concerts, comedy, markets, and special events will now be featured in one location on the website launched by the Hospitality Alliance, an initiative from the Business Development Committee of the Bolingbrook Chamber of Commerce.

The chamber acquired the website domain in 2025, and the committee

has been developing the site to provide Bolingbrook Chamber members with a platform to list events and promotions.

“It will be a one-stop shop for all the information on what’s happening in Bolingbrook,” said Melissa Boltz, President & CEO for the Bolingbrook Chamber of Commerce.

The website features information on hotels, restaurants, and entertainment venues in Bolingbrook. The newest edition will be the calendar listing for events and activities.

Visitors staying in Bolingbrook for travel sports, visiting family and friends, or in town for weddings and business will have easy access to the website via QR codes available at all Bolingbrook hotels, Boltz explained.

The concept originated from the desire to modernize the traditional brochures typically used to promote a community. The goal is to create a platform that allows for continuous updates on happenings in Bolingbrook while also promoting tourism and local events. This website will enable the addition of new

PARK DISTRICT PROVIDES WORLDCLASS AMENITIES, PROGRAMS

The Bolingbrook Park District truly has something for everyone with more than 50 parks, two community centers and indoor and outdoor aquatic parks and a golf course, fitness center, and skate parks

“We offer over 2,500 recreation programs throughout the year, from athletics to early childhood classes, gymnastics to preschool, fitness and more,” said Kimberly Smith,

The Bolingbrook Park District strives to provide world-class amenities and programs. Each year, the team reviews its amenities and continually makes updates to improve the experience and ensure optimum enjoyment, whether it’s taking time on the swings and slides or jogging through the many trails.

In 2026, there will be several improvements to Bolingbrook

Park District amenities, Smith said. Plans are underway to add a new functional fitness training space at Lifestyle Fitness Center, creating an opportunity for new classes and group training sessions, Smith explained. Functional fitness focuses on exercise movements that are used every day, such as reaching, stretching, lifting, and carrying objects. The target opening of the new space is late summer.

The park district has plans to renovate the locker room and restroom area in the aquatic complex, creating a brand-new space using a more modern design and adding more family restrooms.

The park district staff works hard to maintain the outdoor spaces. Late in the summer, it will be adding a new sport court color coating on the tennis and basketball courts at Prairie Trails and Sunset Park. The turf will

be replaced at the Balstrode Park Cricket Pitch, ready for a new season of games this spring.

In the park and playground improvements, the park district will be replacing the 21-year-old playground equipment at Liberty Park. The work is scheduled to start in the spring and be ready for the summer. The park district is also replacing dated playground equipment at River Hills Park, with a similar timeline that will have it ready for summer fun.

Throughout the park district, there will be improvements, from new picnic tables and trail signs to fresh coats of paint and new plantings. Along with the physical improvements, the Bolingbrook Park District will have a busy year of events, from long-time favorites like the Parkie’s 5K run to newer events that have grown in popularity.

Smith said in 2026 there will be three opportunities for the Lazy River 5K, which has sold out quickly in the past. The race invites attendees to run/walk through the lazy river in the aquatic facility, pushing against the current and waves to demonstrate endurance and strength. The series offers a race in June, July and August. “This has been a fun one,” Smith added.

Summer is a busy time for the park district and in 2026 it will debut a new kickoff to summer with Glowing into Summer, scheduled for Friday, June. 12. The event will feature a lightup kite flying event for everyone to enjoy.

The summer will also feature the return of the popular summer concert series, bringing beautiful music to the outdoors.

From fitness to gymnastics, swimming classes and early childhood learning experiences, the Bolingbrook Park District strives to have opportunities for all ages to get moving, learning and having plenty of fun.

HOW THE CHAMBER SERVES OUR COMMUNITY

The Bolingbrook Area Chamber of Commerce continues to find innovative ways to inspire current and future business owners and create new opportunities for connecting to the community.

The Bolingbrook Area Chamber of Commerce’s Workforce Development program brings Chamber members together with students at Brooks Middle School and Bolingbrook High School.

At Brooks Middle School, students can sign up to spend their lunch chatting with a business professional from the Chamber.

“The students have been very focused and engaged, because it

is a small group setting,” explained Melissa Boltz, President and CEO of the Bolingbrook Area Chamber of Commerce.

For some students, it may be the first time they’ve met an attorney or had a chance to ask questions to someone who’s started their own business.

Larry Greenwich, the Chairman of the Board for the Bolingbrook Area Chamber of Commerce and former business owner, said the opportunity to be a part of Workforce Development has been rewarding.

“Reaching students earlier gives them more time to explore interests, learn about career options, and understand that there are many different paths to success,” Greenwich said. “I truly

enjoy working with young people and seeing their excitement and curiosity. Their enthusiasm and desire to learn are a constant reminder of how important it is for the Chamber, local businesses, and schools to work together to support and inspire the next generation.”

At Bolingbrook High School, the success of the program is leading to an expansion starting in 2026 to a “Discover Your Direction” series, where students can register to attend work-based learning class led by a panel of Chamber members with presentations including Entrepreneurship, careers in the Medical Field and Engineering.

“We want to make sure all of our

students are set up for success,” Boltz said. “This is a wonderful opportunity for members of our community to mentor and give back.”

“We watch our legislation and respond,” Boltz said.

When there was a proposed state tax on services, the Chamber took an active approach speaking with business owners and informing state leadership the Chamber, on behalf of its business community, strongly opposes introducing a service tax for use of hairdressers, plumbers and other service businesses.

“We communicate with our businesses and speak on behalf of their interests,” Boltz said.

Through the Chamber, its members and the greater community can connect with volunteer and fundraising opportunities to support the greater Bolingbrook community. From helping to set up and run Chamber events like the Taste of Bolingbrook to the annual events such as the Holiday Cheer Event, which raised more than $5,000 for local non-profits in 2025.

“We welcome the public at all of our signature events. They are a great way to come out and connect with people in our community and they are fun,” Boltz said.

VILLAGE HAS A GEM IN BOLINGBROOK GOLF CLUB

Whether playing a round of golf with friends, hosting a celebration, or making a date for dinner at the onsite restaurant, the Bolingbrook Golf Club remains one of the community’s gems.

The Bolingbrook Golf Club features an 18-hole championship course designed by Arthur Hills and Steve Forest. The course includes elevated tees, rolling fairways, seven lakes, a true island green par 3, and five sets of tees that provide challenges for every level of player.

Each season the course welcomes golfers to play through its fairways, from international golf champions

to members of area high school golf teams. Golf is a game of each player seeking their personal best, something well understood by Doug Friess, General Manager for the Bolingbrook Golf Club. The club is managed by Kemper Sports and owned by the Village of Bolingbrook.

Friess has spent years in the golf industry, from clearing the range as a teen to working with player development. Today, he oversees operations at the club and the staff that includes a special events coordinator, wedding coordinator, and PGA professionals.

In 2024 and 2025, the Bolingbrook

Golf Club was selected as the only site in Illinois to host the Liv Golf League in its international tour, bringing golfers from around the world and spectators near and far.

With fantastic amenities, it’s fair to say some daily visitors never even swing a club. Each year, the Bolingbrook Golf Club hosts a number of events, including golf outings as well as social events and special celebrations. More than 12,000 visit the Bolingbrook Golf Club annually for its spectacular Fourth of July Fireworks celebrations, featuring entertainment and activities for the entire family to enjoy before the big show.

BOLINGBROOK GOLF CLUB

The Bolingbrook Golf Club has a dedicated team to coordinate social events in the multiple ballrooms, from large weddings to birthdays and anniversaries, bar and bat mitzvahs, quinceañeras as well as wedding and baby showers. In addition to the spacious ballrooms, the golf course can utilize space on its greens to host outdoor weddings and events, accommodating up to 900 guests. The course welcomes wedding guests, hosts prom for area high schools, and can even accommodate a fireworks show on the grounds to cap the evening, Friess said.

Located close to the major roads and highway, the Bolingbrook Golf Club provides a great venue to host special events. Inside the club’s restaurant, The Nest Bar and Grill, guests can enjoy the chef’s daily specials for lunch or dinner year-round. Each year, the restaurant welcomes guests to celebrate Easter, Mother’s Day and New Year’s Eve events. Throughout the year, the restaurant hosts smaller events, from live music to sip and paint events and special wine and beer pairing dinners.
