Ashley Marie Vivarelli and George Thomas Danilkowicz were married Oct. 10, 2015, at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Rock Falls. The Rev. Monsignor Thomas Dzielak officiated the ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Mario and Debbie Vivarelli of Sterling. The groom is the son of Richard and Joan Danilkowicz of Elgin. Serving as maid of honor was Jenna Repass and matron of honor was Kayla Brown, friends of the couple. Serving as best men were Rick Danilkowicz and Jack Danilkowicz, brothers of the groom. Serving as bridesmaids were Alicia Fritz, cousin of the bride, Patti Smolarski, friend of the couple, and Sarah Danilkowicz, sister-in-law of the couple.
The groomsmen were Giovanni Paperella, Scott Golden, David Pickard, Jason Seaman, and Ryan Manning, friends of the couple. Ushering the event were Nate Marrs and Ben Marrs, cousins of the groom. Serving as flower girl was Caroline Marrs, cousin of the groom. The ring bearer was Oscar Palmer, cousin of the bride. A reception was held at Deer Valley Country Club, hosted by Anita Vivarelli, aunt of the bride. The bride is a graduate of Southern Illinois University – Carbondale. She is employed by Progressive Insurance in Chicago. The groom is a graduate of Southern Illinois University – Carbondale. He is employed by Precision Body Works in Elgin. The couple reside in Elgin with their dog, Lenny.

50th Anniversary Ron and Kay Lancaster 50th Anniversary
It was in May 1965, while watching a James Bond movie in Prophetstown, that their eyes first met. He was 20, she was 15. A few weeks later, they had their first date. He serenaded her sweetly while playing his guitar on her parents’ front porch. From that moment on, they knew their fate was sealed. On June 22, 1966, a trip to Iowa legal-
ized their love while a formal wedding followed a few days later on June 25 at the Congregational Church in Prophetstown. Upon returning from their honeymoon at the motorcycle races in New Windsor, their lives as husband and wife began. Many people said they would never make it but on June 22, 2016, Ron and Kay (Brady) Lancaster celebrated their
50th wedding anniversary. In their 50 years together, many have been spent in Tampico where they currently reside. They have welcomed two daughters, Shanda (Ed) Milder of Lacon and Denise Mickelson of Tampico, and have welcomed, and then mourned, the loss of a son, Ronnie Lancaster Jr. They have happily spoiled four grandchildren into adulthood and are now
doing the same to their two greatgrandchildren. They are both officially “retired” but still own and operate Lancaster Sprints, a hobby which has provided people all over the world with antique, restored Sprint motorcycles and parts. If you happen to see either of these two, please wish them a happy anniversary. The couple plan to celebrate with a small family dinner.

in Toms River, New Jersey; Melanie Johnson, a senior at Judson University in Elgin; and Joe Sanders, serving in the U.S. Army in the Middle East. Harry and Virginia Smith recently celebrated their 70th anniversary with a small gathering of friends and family. Harry Smith and Virginia Dodd were married June 28, 1946, at First United Methodist Church in Dixon. Standing up with them were Fred Sanford (now deceased) and his wife, Mary, who still resides in Dixon. Harry and Virginia lived most of their lives in the Dixon area.
Both attended Dixon High School. As their first date, they went with friends to the Amboy Spring Carnival in 1941. They graduated from DHS in 1942. Harry served in the Navy during World War II. Virginia served the country here at home, working at the Green River Ordnance Plant. Harry was employed with the Reyn-

Congratulations Holli (Schlesinger) Tongate graduated magna cum laude from Mendoza College of Business at the University of Notre Dame on May 14, 2016, earning her Master’s Degree in Business Administration. She graduated from Amboy High School in 2001 and Illinois State University summa cum laude in 2004 with a degree in Marketing. She began her career with State Farm Insurance in Bloomington as an intern while at ISU becoming full time in 2005. Holli currently is the director of Omnichannel Strategy at State Farm, and lives in Normal with her husband, Greg, and three daughters, Macy, Preslee, and Ainsley.

Birthday Happy 90th Birthday William Carey William I. Carey was born July 8, 1926, in DeKalb. He served in Germany during World War II, and traveled extensively in Europe. Returning from the Army, he married Doris Reuter and bought a farm in East Grove Township in Lee County. Bill has two daughters, Pam Carey and Deb Carey; two granddaughters, Jennifer (Jeff) Vaessen and Amanda (Eric) Henkel; two greatgranddaughters, Nastasja Vaessen and Alexzandra Vaessen; and two
great-grandsons, Reece Vaessen and Preston Henkel. They all live in Careyville in East Grove Township. Bill worked at Northwestern Steel and Wire Co., retiring after 30 years. He still farms (including chain-sawing down trees) in his 90th year. As a widower, he married Evelyn Rapp in 2012, and they live on the farm at 377 IL Route 26, Amboy, IL 61310. Tell him “Happy Birthday” when you see him at Spratt’s Gas Station in Ohio drinking coffee in the morning.

Elizabeth Nielsen receives her Doctor of Medicine degree University of Medicine and Health Science is proud to announce the graduation of Elizabeth “Beth” Mattes Nielsen, M.D., from medical school, December 2015. She completed a 4-year extensive training program that included basic sciences in St. Kitts and clinical rotations in various hospitals in the U.S. Her Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) graduation ceremony was at Alice Tully Hall on June 10, 2016, at Lincoln Center in New York City. Beth graduated from Normal Community High School in 2007, and obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physiology at Southern Illinois University in Car-
bondale in 2011. Dr. Nielsen started a 3-year residency program in Internal Medicine on June 27, 2016, at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine and Affiliate Hospitals in Springfield. Her parents are Dr. Kathryn Bohn M.D. and Dr. Thomas Nielsen M.D. of Bloomington. Beth would like to thank her parents, family and all those involved who supported and allowed her to achieve this success. Dr. Nielsen is the granddaughter of the late Esther J. Nielsen and Conrad E. Nielsen, DDS of Clayton, and the late Calvin Bohn and Betty Bohn of Mendota.
