HONDURAS UPDATE

This is the 29th year I have worked with the people in Honduras twice a year, two weeks each trip. The two most important activities currently are the feeding school lunches of 1700 children in sixteen schools. I am a Gideon and a fellow Hondurian Gideon and I take my old Datsun pickup in the mountains and give Spanish New testaments to High School age kids. We are allowed to go into the classrooms to hand them out. I enjoy the people of Honduras and they are very appreciative of the extended help to them. I will be leaving soon for my next trip. Picking, washing, sorting and grading assorted vegetables. Cut produce is to be placed in containers. Containers are placed on wagon in field. Placing cut flowers in water. Preparing cut flowers for shipment. Remove weeds from containers. Prepare or ready baskets of flowers for sale. May be required to do some incidental record keeping. May be required to do spot picking and / or clipping. Tools and equipment will be provided at no cost to the worker. Proper work attire is required; worker must wear long sleeve shirts, long pants, no shorts, hard sole shoes, preferably boots, and no tennis shoes. Housing provided to workers who cannot reasonable return to their permanent residence at the end of each work day. Due to possible Date of Need changes, worker is required to purchase travel insurance if available. We will reimburse the worker for transportation cost (including travel insurance) and subsistence to the employers work site from the place of recruitment upon completion of 50 percent of the contract period. Transportation payment will be no less (and is not required to be more) than the most economical and reasonable common carrier transportation charges for the distances involved. Three fourths guarantee, 35 hrs. per week. The wage offer is $11.56 per hour.
