One Year Later - Rebuilding in Altadena We’re excited to share that the Pine Street rebuild is entering its final stages and is expected to be completed in the coming weeks—bringing our first Altadena rebuild family closer to returning home and beginning a new chapter together. This milestone reflects months of steady progress made possible by the dedication of countless volunteers, partners, and supporters who have shown up week after week with skill, heart, and commitment. From framing and systems installation to finishing work now underway, every step forward represents the power of community coming together to rebuild after loss and create lasting stability for families.
And the momentum continues... Recently, construction on the second rebuild in Altadena began, expanding our impact and helping another family take their first steps toward home. The project will include a 1,259 sqft, 3BR/2BA front home, along with a 731 sqft, 2BR/1BA ADU on the same property— creating safe homes for multiple generations. For homeowner Helen, this milestone represents far more than construction progress.
“Home to me now means comfort, safety, love, and community,” she shared. “It means waking up and knowing I’ll be home again.”

From Center Ice to Community Impact On January 7—the one-year anniversary of the Eaton Fire—San Gabriel Valley Habitat for Humanity was honored at the Los Angeles Kings vs. San Jose Sharks game at Crypto.com Arena, following a generous $150,000 investment from the Kings Care Foundation supporting Altadena’s recovery. The evening included a ceremonial puck drop and an in-arena video spotlighting SGV Habitat’s rebuilding work, bringing visibility to the families and partners who are helping restore homes and hope after the fire. That recognition quickly turned into real-world impact. Inspired by the story shared that night, a Kings fan and local roofing company owner pledged donated labor and materials to install roofs on Altadena rebuilds—an estimated $1 million gift-in-kind helping families return to safe, stable homes sooner. Inspired to help? Donors and businesses can support Altadena’s recovery through in-kind donations or financial contributions—every gift helps move families closer to home.
