CEO Report

Here are a couple of updates:

The waterfall feature being installed at Heritage and Bethany Dr. has hit a snag. A new liner must be ordered, and all the stones will have to be removed to install the new liner. The contractor, Josh, has expressed his deepest apologies for this setback. I’m asking everyone to be very supportive of Josh. He has assured me that this project will be completed with the highest quality and excellence.

We have officially acquired 17+/- acres. This parcel of land includes the wooded area behind the homes on East Bethany Dr. We do not have any plans for development or construction at this time.

We now have the ability to process your monthly invoice payment electronically. See our billing specialist, Danielle, for details.

Do you remember in our June newsletter when I mentioned that the spring of 2025 was shaping up to be one of the wettest on record? Well, in stark contrast, August officially went down as the driest August in recent history, and September appears to be heading in the same direction. We’ve tried adjusting the sprinkler run times to compensate, but the extreme heat has proven difficult to overcome. Given the sheer volume of water required across campus to maintain the lawns in a lush, green condition, our representative from City Public Works advised us against significantly increasing usage. With the temps starting to drop, the grass will return before we get into Fall.

LIBRARY

As we move through autumn towards winter, you may get in the mood for a puzzle—the Fall puzzles are back out on the shelves in the puzzle room.

In the book collection, we have shifted all the general fiction into the main room, starting next to the desk and copier and running for four shelving units, with all of our large print materials at the end. That means that you’ll find all the missionary biographies/stories, Christian biographies, church history, and regular biographies in the southeast corner.

We have lots of new books for you to read: over 550 since the first of the year!

THANK YOU

Dear Maranatha Family,

Thanks to the many who sent cards for Merle’s passing. Many prayers were asked for him over the months as well. Your love has been obvious. Special thanks for the plant, use of the chapel for the funeral, and the Community Center for the dinner for the family. I’m thankful to be part of this caring community.

In Christ, Deborah Carpenter

BonfireTraditions BonfireTraditions

The tradition of bonfires dates back centuries and has deep-rooted cultural significance across various civilizations. Historically, bonfires were used for ceremonial purposes, such as warding off evil spirits, celebrating seasonal festivals, or signaling important events. For instance, during ancient Celtic festivals like Samhain, bonfires were lit to mark the end of the harvest season and the beginning of winter. In modern times, bonfires have become synonymous with social gatherings and outdoor celebrations, particularly in the fall. Roasting hotdogs over a bonfire is a quintessential part of this tradition, combining the communal spirit of the fire with the simple pleasure of cooking and sharing food in the great outdoors. This activity not only provides warmth and nourishment but also fosters a sense of togetherness, as friends and family gather around the fire to enjoy each other’s company and share stories under the stars.
