On April 7 Greene County will vote to decide one question: “Should Springfield impose an additional 3% tax on transient guests renting, sleeping accommodations in hotels, motels, etc. for the purpose of attracting travel and tourism, including the construction and event center? DOGWOOD MOUNTAIN DULCIMERS
On Saturday, May 16 from 4:30-5:30PM Maranatha Village is hosting the Dogwood Mountain Dulcimers, featuring the hammered and mountain dulcimer, at the Community Center for a concert followed by an open jam after the concert from 6-9PM. Come enjoy the concert and stick around to join the open jam with instrument, singing, or just listening to some fabulous folk music. You don’t want to miss out on this fun evening. LUNCH AT THE COMMUNITY CENTER
The Community Center Dining Room is serving a buffet lunch each Wednesday. The buffet is available 11:30AM-1PM and the cost is only $5 per person. No reservations are required and you are welcome to bring guests. A full menu will be emailed and available for pick up at the Community Center. We are also interested in your ideas for the menu. WEEKLY WALMART TRIP

STAINED GLASS THEATRE
On April 16 we will take the bus to Stained Glass Theatre to see The Robe. Marcellus, a young Roman officer, has been exiled. In Jerusalem, it becomes his duty to crucify a Galilean. Although he believes the man innocent, he obeys. He also tosses dice for the simple homespun robe which the Galilean wore. He wins but becomes a desperately troubled man, restless and obsessed with thoughts of the Galilean and the persecuted Christians. This hour of prayer focuses on the needs of the Maranatha community and staff. Many among us are sick, facing loss, praying for miracles, and just needing a touch from God. The Pony Express was a remarkable mail delivery system that operated in the United States from April 1860 to October 1861. Established by the Central Overland California and Pikes Peak Express Company, it was designed to provide a faster means of communication between the Eastern United States and California amid the Gold Rush and the burgeoning need for rapid communication across the vast continent. The service used a relay system of horseback riders who traveled a route approximately 1,900 miles long, stretching from St. Joseph, Missouri, to Sacramento, California. Riders would cover roughly 75 to 100 miles per shift, changing horses at relay stations spaced 10 to 15 miles apart. Despite its short lifespan of just 18 months, the Pony Express became an iconic symbol of the American West. Its operations were rendered obsolete by the completion of the transcontinental telegraph line in October 1861, which provided a more efficient means of communication. Nonetheless, the legacy of the Pony Express endures as a testament to the daring and determination of those who braved the elements and danger to deliver the mail.
