CEO Report

Progress. This term is associated with many emotions and feelings. Joy, happiness, fulfillment, satisfaction, completion, improvement, and growth are a few terms that are reflective from a positive perspective. Change, modify, adjustment, costly, expensive, fear, inconvenience, and stress are just a few terms that reflect a more negative perspective. I typically see progress from a positive perspective. How about you? For instance, if you haven’t driven to the community center recently, there is progress being made on our new waterfall feature and signage area. I trust this will invoke a positive feeling. If you continue your drive Westward from the CC, you will see progress on our new storage and gardening area. Again, this is progress. These, both, have taken much time in preparation but are finally nearing completion, thereby, enhancing our property. It should stir up positive emotions. Another project in preparation is our Master Plan. I am so excited about how our management team and the architects have collaborated. The final campus plan is nearing its completion. I have to say, it is so amazing to see the visions of our future replicated on paper.I am sure at the time of its revealing, you will feel elated about what our future holds. Continue to pray for Maranatha, our board of directors, me and my staff. We will need wisdom in so many areas. Such as, we will need to select who to partner with. There are so many entities (ie, general manager, contractors, consultants, state and city officials, & etc) that will have an impact in this process.Pray that financing of our future projects can be provided for. Pray for workers who are compassionate. Pray that the news of Maranatha Village will draw people to move here from all over the country. Mostly, Pray for God’s favor! Our past is great, but our future looks greater! Thank you, Lord, for your hand that has been upon us.

KERN LIBRARY

This past month, we have started in again on entering all of our books into a database so we have an inventory of our collection. This database will make it easier to see if we already have a particular book, and it will also help in acquiring volumes to complete a series. Look for new shelving in the near future (with our thanks to Roger Perkin and the Maranatha Mall), which will also mean a little rearranging as our collection continues to expand.

Happy reading!

AprilFools’Day

April Fools' Day, celebrated on April 1st each year, is a lighthearted day dedicated to pranks and jokes. Its origins are somewhat murky, but some historians suggest it dates back to the 16th century in France. This was when France switched from the Julian calendar to the Gregorian calendar, following the edict of King Charles IX in 1564. Before this change, the New Year was celebrated around the end of March. Those who forgot or resisted the calendar change and continued to celebrate the New Year in spring were teased as "April fools." The tradition of playing pranks on this day likely spread from France to other parts of Europe and eventually to the rest of the world. Today, people around the globe embrace this day with playful tricks, from simple jokes to elaborate hoaxes. Whether it’s a harmless prank among friends or a clever ruse by companies, the spirit of the day is to bring laughter and joy, making it a cherished tradition that encourages creativity and a sense of humor. Just remember to keep the jokes in good spirit and ensure everyone involved enjoys the fun!
