FINANCIAL AID
UNIVERSITY HIGH SCHOOL

Any family may apply to participate in the financial aid program. We award grants to students each year based on their family’s demonstrated need and the school’s available funds.
Depending on the family’s demonstrated need, financial aid awards cover the cost of tuition and, on occasion, mandatory fees and other costs. Families should remember to include the fees and costs above and beyond tuition (approximately $1,850) in their budgeting for the year. A list of fees and additional costs is available on the Tuition and Additional Costs tab at sfuhs.org/admissions
The Financial Aid Committee considers these fees and costs, which comprise part of the total cost of a UHS education, when determining a family’s financial aid eligibility. The financial aid award amounts and agreements will be included in the electronic decision notification on Friday, March 20th, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. (PST).
Our financial aid process uses a complex set of calculations to determine a family’s demonstrated need. We consider a variety of factors during the financial aid process, including (but not limited to):
• Annual income of parent(s)/guardian(s)
• Major assets (savings, investments, home equity, etc.)
• Family size
• Number of children in tuition-charging schools
• Discretionary income
• “Unusual” expenses, such as legal fees, caring for an aging family member, and parent/guardian education loan payments
Families who participate in our financial aid program for their child’s first year at UHS must reapply annually by filling out an application and forms as explained on the Affording UHS tab on our website. Families who submit their forms in a timely fashion and whose financial situation has not changed substantially can expect to receive a renewal of aid at about the same percentage, taking annual tuition increases into consideration.
All families participating in the financial aid program will be automatically enrolled in the ten-month payment plan. Still curious about how financial aid works at University?

The UHS financial aid application process is run through Clarity Tuition. All families who wish to be considered for financial aid must submit an application through Clarity’s website (clarityapp.com) by Thursday, January 8, 2026. UHS does not collect hard copies directly; the financial aid application is electronic. We strongly encourage families to begin preparing your tax returns as soon as possible.
Completion of a Clarity Tuition application will trigger a request to the IRS for your 2024 tax returns. After submission, Clarity will prompt your family to submit additional documents when applicable, including family financial statements and business tax returns.
