Connect Further with Expanded FamilySearch The Sewickely Public Library is now a FamilySearch Affiliate Library! Becoming an affiliate library allows us to offer our patrons expanded in -library access to the resources available on FamilySearch.org – a nonprofit family history organization dedicated to connecting families across generations. Library users gain access to the over 1 billion+ records on the site, which boasts the largest collection of genealogical and historical records in the world. (Yes, that’s billion with a B!) Users can access the database from within the library (on our public computers or via the library ’s free wifi) by creating a free account. Once you ’ve created your account, you ca n search for family records with full access to record images and documents , create your own family tree, and access other user ’s family trees.
A bonus feature of Family Search is the ability to create memories on the site – adding family photos, documents , and stories to save and share. Users can keep all of their cherished memories in one place. Another nea t part of Family Search is that they us e volunteers to index doc uments on the site. Anyo ne can volunteer to help index one of the over one hundred projects currently available on FamilySearch.org. Colorful Collection of Prints From June 1 – July 13, 2019, t h e di s pl a y c a s es w i l l exhibit “Someday Your Prints Will Come ”, paintings and prints by Steven W. Justice. Born in Homestead, Jus tice graduated from Moon High School in 1974. He studied for several years at the Carnegie Institute under Joseph C. Fitzpatrick, who had also taught Andy Warhol, and then studied Indus trial Design at the University of Cincinnati and worked in that trade for several decades. He returned to ar t making - painting in oil on canvas - large, satirical cartoon portraits, at first part-time and eventually full time. He is deeply committed to entertaining, enlightening and educating viewers through his art. There will be an artist’s reception on Saturday, June 22, f r o m 3:00 - 5:00 PM – everyone is invited!
