The Viera Voice Scarecrow Stroll brings out the best in creativity among businesses and organizations in Viera, Suntree and Rockledge. More than 20 scarecrows will be on display for two weeks at local businesses before they are moved to The Avenue Viera for the Viera Harvest Festival on Oct. 21.
BY NANETTE HEBDIGE Fall hopefully brings cooler temperatures, festivities and two of the most anticipated events in the community — the two-week Scarecrow Stroll, followed by the popular Oct. 21 Viera Harvest Festival. Viera Voice is putting on the event. It has built a life-size Mutant Ninja Turtle named Mikey Crowabunga. The two-week Scarecrow Stroll begins Oct. 5 and concludes Oct. 19. There will be 21 local businesses designing and handcrafting scarecrows. Participants in the Scarecrow Stroll will take their ballots

to each of the 21 businesses to see and check off each visit. When the ballot has been completed, each participant will vote for their favorite ’Crow. This will be the Popular Vote. There will be four ballot box locations in Viera, Suntree and Rockledge. Ballots can be dropped off at the new Community Credit Union in West Viera, the presenting sponsor. Hook & Eagle Tavern at Viera East Golf Club and Indian River Furniture on U.S. 1 are gold sponsors. Viera Voice on Shoppes Drive near Walmart is another drop-off location. Attendees at the Viera Harvest Festival will get to vote, too.
