Drawing on inspirations BY LILLIAN NGUYEN What’s that on the cover? “Through The Looking Glass” is a stunning and detailed piece of art drawn by 12-yearold Anika Reddy. It depicts a young girl peering through her binoculars, happily observing the lake and scenery around her. Reddy was inspired by her everyday surroundings. “I like biking with my friends, I like seeing the nature,” she said. “The background is something that I usually see every day — I can see this in my backyard.” There’s even a little rocket page 5 ship in the sky, which Reddy added after viewing the Artemis II launch. After sketching her idea on paper, Reddy refined her lines with a Sharpie and colored it in with crayons and color pencils. “Through The Looking Glass” was submitted to the annual Charlie Corbeil VIERA VOICE Original art by Anika Reddy Youth Art Contest. The color pencil art titled "Through The Looking Glass" was a third-place winner at the 2026 Charlie Corbeil Youth Art Contest in May. Reddy has been participating in the annual youth art competition for several years and hopes to continue creating art. VV
