Since 1889, St. Luke’s Chapel has provided Episcopal worship experiences. After the Civil War, three Episcopalian cousins from Charleston, South Carolina relocated first to Eau Gallie, then to the north end of what was then called Merritt’s Island in

the 1870s. “They’d heard that Florida was becoming a land of plenty,” said Gary Young, a historian who offers tours of the adjoining cemetery. “They pulled a wagon all the way here.”
