Selected Car Group’s story dates back to 1992, when the owner of the Selfinvest Group, Torben Østergaard-Nielsen, decided to start a collection of classic cars – at that time, mainly the SL series of the Mercedes-Benz marque. Soon, the passion and desire to collect classic cars spread to other marques such as Porsche, Ferrari, Lamborghini and Jaguar. Over the years, the car collection was evaluated by several experts who reported high price increases. At the same time, more and more visitors expressed their enthusiasm and interest in cars as investment objects, which laid the foundation for Selected Car Investment as a new business.
We combine financial and emotional returns. The love of sports cars and classic cars has grown steadily in recent years, and this has been reflected in rising prices. Classic cars have become collectors’ investments, relevant both when you invest with your heart and when you invest more calculatingly. Classic cars inspire fascination and love of engineering. Only a limited number of models can be called true classics – and only a few of those come in mint condition. Selected Car Investment buys and sells investment vehicles as individual deals as well as pool investments, which have gained momentum since the launch of the first pool in 2019. Bugatti EB110 GT
Lamborghini Reventón
The Bugatti EB110 was a significant achievement for the marque, not just for its technology but also for the fact that it marked the revival of Bugatti as a car manufacturer.
The Reventón was not only a serious sports car in its own right with a powerful 12 cylinder engine propelling it to a top speed of 340 km/h, but – arguably more importantly – with its rarity and spectacular appearance turned out to be the perfect collector’s piece of automobile too. As such it became the first of a new product line of “Few Off”-cars by Lamborghini. And collectors like the first, right?
The Bugatti marque was closed in 1963 after the death of its founder Ettore Bugatti, but Italian businessman Romano Artioli acquired the rights to the Bugatti name in 1987 and started construction of a new factory. In 1991, the marque presented the all-new EB110 GT on the exact date of birth of Ettore Bugatti, 110 years earlier. This was a significant moment in the history of the marque as it marked the return of Bugatti as a leading producer of high-performance luxury cars. By pulling all the stops technologically the EB110 turned out to be an era-defining supercar, mindblowingly fast and yet eminently useable.
Reventón’s design elements were also used in subsequent Lamborghini models, playing an important role in Lamborghini’s design history. Add to this status that the Reventón’s design was so strong and well judged that it formed the basis for all newer Lamborghini models up to this day, thereby playing an important role in the marque’s design history.
Porsche Carrera GT
Ferrari 599 GTO
As a supercar manufacturer, Porsche has stuck to its engineering-driven approach and philosophy that cars are first and foremost means of transport, and both their first attempt (Porsche 959) and their last (Porsche 918) are fully capable high-tech sports cars.
The GTO abbreviation is the best known in Ferrari’s history and has adorned only three models: the 250 GTO, the 288 GTO and this latest model – the 599 GTO. The O stands for “omologato”, which means approval – for the first two cars in motorsport.
However, the supercar Carrera GT that was designed in the intervening years had a completely different approach, as it is based on racing technology, and thus has a much rawer feel. This is unusual for a Porsche, and paradoxically its very shortcomings as a car for everyday life have given it a legendary status as a supercar in the Porsche hierarchy.
In fact, the 599 GTO was the reverse, as it didn’t originate from the road car of the same name, but instead from the track-modified 599 XX. That car could not be registered for road driving, so instead Ferrari used as much of the technology from the track car XX as possible for the new GTO. The end result was the same as with two previous GTO’s: one of the best supercars of its time.

Stuart’s love of cars started with the 1969 film ‘The Italian Job’, starring the exquisite Lamborghini Miura, in the opening scene. By the age of 15, Stuart had bought and restored his first car. Stuart comes from Jaguar Land Rover Classic in the UK where he was in charge of their sales department. Prior to this, Stuart had his own business for six years in which he bought, restored and sold classic cars. At Selected Car Investment, Stuart is responsible for the purchase and sale of classic cars in the international market
Claus is a dedicated car enthusiast and has been in the classic car industry for 30 years. His very first car was a classic convertible, and this marked the start of his love of cars. After many years’ experience from driving, racing and trading classic cars, his knowledge of the industry is as great as his passion. He thinks the Lancia Stratos is the answer to all questions. At Selected Car Investment, Claus plays a key role in portfolio management, selection and sales.
