Deadline nears for entry into Grand Re-Opening Tournament at new Starcke Park Golf Course Cindy Aguirre-Herrera
(Seguin) -- The fairways are calling again in Starcke Park Golf Course and this time; the comeback comes with a little competition and a lot of excitement. In anticipation of the return of golf at Max Starcke Park, the city of Seguin is giving players a chance to be a part of its Grand Re-Opening Tournament Weekend set for Saturday, May 30, and Sunday, May 31, 2026. As part of the celebration, city officials
say they are adding a unique twist. That twist will include a public lottery to fill a limited number of spots in the Sunday, May 31 tournament. Just eight team positions will be drawn, giving local golfers a shot at being part of the reopening event. The Sunday tournament will feature a four-person scramble format aimed at players of all skill levels. Starcke, pg. 4
(Seguin) -- This Thursday, residents can leave the cooking to the Seguin Noon Lions Club as it hosts its annual Spring Fling fundraiser. It is made by Next Door Catering. In addition, we have our raffle that goes along with it. But the thing that I think sells the most is the pork steak dinner. I mean, people love that. If we can get you to come once, you’ll come back. It’s a delicious pork steak smothered in a delicious sauce. There are potatoes, and I don’t know how to describe them other than they’re just too good. And then there are the green beans, which are even better. And I don’t like green beans, but I eat them because they’re so great. So, we’re so glad that Next Door Catering is willing to help us out as they have been for many years and provide that delicious pork steak dinner,” said Klingemann. In addition to the meal, attendees can also participate in a raffle featuring a wide variety of prizes. Klingemann says the group has worked hard to bring folks a great batch of prizes. “We do have wonderful raffles, and in fact, we kind of took a look at our raffle this year, and we decided -Fling, pg. 3
