Voters welcome Germann back to Pct. 4 Cindy Aguirre-Herrera

(Seguin) -- Guadalupe County Commissioner Stephen Germann has reclaimed his seat. Germann on Tuesday defeated challenger Joel Hicks in Tuesday’s Republican Primary Runoff Election for the Precinct 4 seat. Germann received 1,940 votes, or 60.83 percent of the ballots cast, while Hicks received 1,249 votes, or 39.17 percent of the vote. The victory marks the beginning of Germann’s second term on the Guadalupe County Commissioners Court. Germann says he is excited and grateful for the support shown by voters and to all those who helped throughout the campaign. “I need to thank my wife and my son and my media people that have helped me and we got it done but the voters are the ones that went back and said this is what we want done and that’s what we did,” said Germann. But all in all, he says it was the voters who got what they wanted. “The voters are the ones that

win. I don’t win the seat, the voters do. They’re the ones that do the voting. They want me to do a job for them and that’s what I do,” said Germann. Meanwhile, the outcome was not what Hicks had hoped for. He says while running a campaign is not always easy or fun, he believes, it’s part of something bigger for his personal journey. “It’s just all God’s will. I appreciate everybody that came out and voted for me. I will have to say that, you know, Germann, pg. 3

Seguin advances idea for new fire station north of I-10 Darren Dunn

(Seguin) -- The City of Seguin is moving forward with plans to build a new fire station, which would be its first north of Interstate 10. Establishing a fire station north of the highway is considered important due to the rapid growth occurring in that area. Fire Chief Dale Skinner says Fire Station No. 4 will be designed by Martinez Architects. Skinner

says the firm emerged as the top choice after a careful review process conducted by city staff. “We were given the funds by (city) council through the budget process for Fire Station No. 4 in the sum of $900,000. We then hired an owner’s rep who helped facilitate where we are today, Station, pg. 3
