Seguin ISD names lone finalist for school superintendent Cindy Aguirre-Herrera
(Seguin) -- The name may already be familiar to many in the Seguin ISD community -- but this time, it belongs to someone new. On Tuesday, the Seguin ISD Board of Trustees named Dr. Jack Lee as the lone finalist for superintendent of schools. The announcement will for sure draw double takes from longtime community members who remember another Jack Lee -- the late educator who for years served generations of Seguin students. Nonetheless, this Jack Lee is the result of a two-month search for the district’s next leader. Since 2019, Dr. Lee has served as superintendent of Bullard ISD. The 4A district, located south of Tyler, serves approximately 2,900 students. Dr. Lee says he is excited about making the move to the Seguin ISD and is ready to
develop a plan for the school district’s future. “I think the biggest thing I want people to know; is I am all about positivity. I’m all about high expectations, and I’m about making sure we’re doing what’s best for kids and if we can do all three of those things at the same time, then we’re going to have a school system that is top notch, competitive anywhere else, if not the best across the state,” said Dr. Lee. In his time at Bullard ISD, Dr. Lee oversaw significant district improvements, including a jump to an “A” academic rating from the Texas Education Agency. He is also credited with implementing a districtwide curriculum overhaul, launching a mental health support system for students, and passing a $103 million bond to fund new facilities.
