Seguin Job Shadow Program still seeking local businesses to host students
WEEKEND EDITION

(Seguin) -- Area businesses still have time to open their doors to local high school students as the Seguin Job Shadow Program officially gets underway today, connecting teens with real-world career experiences across the community. Hosted through a partnership between the Seguin Economic Development Corporation, the Seguin Area Chamber of Commerce and several school districts, the annual program gives juniors and seniors a chance to spend a day shadowing professionals in fields that interest them. Jessica Dersen, the SEDC industry and workforce development manager, says the commitment for businesses is minimal, making it easy for companies of all sizes to participate. “We work with small to medium to large size businesses. day. As long as they are located in Seguin, they can get registered and of course, we hope that they are excited and enthusiastic to help mentor a young student for a day as well,” said Dersen. Even though students begin shadowing today, Dersen says employers who haven’t signed up can still take part in upcoming dates. Program, pg. 2

(Seguin) -- Bowls will be simmering tonight with some good old friendly competition as Seguin Smiles hosts its annual Soup Social. What has become a community favorite will again return after hours to the local dental office. The event initially invited participants to submit their best soup recipes at a chance to
be featured on tonight’s menu for the Soup Social. Dr. Janice Weinman, of Seguin Smiles, says the tradition of bringing together homemade recipes and conversation continues to grow each year, with strong participation from across the community. Soup, pg. 3
