Seguin welcomes new local manufacturing plant Cindy Aguirre-Herrera
(Seguin) -The newest member of Seguin’s manufacturing community is officially in operation. Aceroteca Metals, L-L-C has opened its new 59,000 square foot metal service center. The plant is located at the corner of Heideke and Seidemann Streets.
The company initially broke ground on the 23acre site just across from Minigrip in June 2023. Company President Hector Morales says that with company origins in Mexico, this first U.S.-based facility will serve as a service center and as a trader to provide
clients with steel of origin, making the product market even more competitive. He says that as a leader in the steel industry, the company’s operation works to commercialize flat steel and metal goods into a wide range of shapes and sizes. New, pg. 3

(Seguin) – The evaluation and contract for the Seguin ISD Superintendent are up for consideration tonight. The Seguin ISD Board of Trustees has scheduled a special meeting for the annual evaluation of Superintendent Dr. Veronica Vijil. The board, by state statute and policy, must evaluate the superintendent at least every 15 months. Trustees are slated to conduct the evaluation behind closed doors. Any action, if taken, however, will be made in open session. For weeks, trustees have worked to nail down an instrument that they believe would fairly and objectively evaluate Dr. Vijil’s performance. As reported before by the Seguin Daily News, the
school board wanted to make sure that the data used to measure Dr. Vijil’s performance aligns with her time in the district. Dr. Vijil took over the role after the start of the last school year, and board members questioned whether it would be fair to judge her performance based on the numbers that happened when she either wasn’t in charge or when she had just taken over the operation of the district.
