The Voice of Seguin

Local judge announces filing for re-election (Seguin) -- A local county court-at-law judge has filed for re-election. Judge William “Bill” Squires III has filed for the Republican nomination for Guadalupe County Court-at-Law. As a fifth-generation Texan and long-time public servant, Squires says he is seeking another term to continue his work in a growing county -- work he describes as delivering swift, fair and community-focused court innovation. While under his leadership, his campaign points to the creation of a specialized Family Violence Court, efforts to reduce case backlogs, and a marked increase in trial volume. In announcing his run, Squires tells the Seguin Daily News that he reflects on what he views as the accomplishments of his current term. “I have dedicated myself to

protecting what matters most to the people who live, work, and raise their families here. I’m proud of all that we have accomplished during my time in office, and I have never been prouder of Guadalupe County and the people who call it home as we have worked together to take care of one another and preserve, protect, and enhance our unique quality of life.” Judge, pg. 3

WEEKEND EDITION

TODAY

KWED spotlights sponsors behind Seguin’s largest holiday food and toy drive (Seguin) – As Seguin Radio KWED prepares to celebrate the 25th anniversary of its Holiday Food & Toy Drive this Friday, organizers say they don’t want the community to overlook the team that it takes to make this drive possible. The annual two-hour fundraiser has become the largest food and toy collection effort in Seguin -- raising

thousands of dollars and truckloads of toys and canned goods each year. And while the event is powered by donors who roll through during the 7 to 9 a.m. hours, KWED says it could never reach this scale without an army of sponsors who step up with monetary gifts, inkind services, and hands-on support.
