Heightened security measures in place as Seguin High School students return Cindy Aguirre-Herrera
(Seguin) -- Seguin High School students will encounter a new daily routine when classes resume next week -- walking through metal detectors before stepping into the building. The new safety measure, set to launch on the first day of school, is part of Seguin ISD’s ongoing effort to enhance campus security and ensure peace of mind for students, staff, and families. According to Dr. Ruben Carrillo, Seguin ISD’s chief of technology and security, the detectors will provide a new layer of protection for students and staff. “We want our students, teachers, and staff members to feel safe on our campus at all times,” said Carrillo. “By having students go through screening at the beginning of the school day, we have an opportunity to remove prohibited items before they can become a potential problem.” Students will pass through the metal detectors at the front door by the school’s front office, as well as at the courtyard doors by the student parking lot and the bus loop.
