TxDOT provides update on I-10 widening project through Seguin

(Seguin) -The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is providing an update on the major widening project along Interstate 10 here in Seguin. They say the work, which remains ahead of schedule, continues between FM 464 and SH 130. TxDOT crews for the last several months have been focused on several major improvements throughout the corridor. According to TxDOT, the project includes widening I-10 from four to six lanes between FM 464 and SH 123, rebuilding ramps, converting frontage roads to one-way traffic and constructing new bridges.
They say current work includes roadway paving and improvements, bridge construction at multiple locations, retaining wall installation and safety upgrades throughout the highway. Over the next two months, TxDOT says crews will continue work on the new eastbound frontage road, advance bridge construction, install additional concrete pavement and complete other safety improvements. The good news, however, for drivers, according to TxDOT, is that no major traffic pattern changes are planned during the next two months. TxDOT, pg. 3

(Marion) -- Marion ISD students are among the first batch of students to return to class. Today marks the first day of school for all Marion campuses. Marion ISD Superintendent Dr. Don Beck says as families make their way back, he is asking parents to bring a little extra patience. “The first thing that I’ll tell everybody is just, hey, for one more
year, pack your patience a little bit,” said Beck. “We got all this construction going on, but it’ll start winding down pretty soon. There are a lot of new people coming in, and so they have to learn our methods and how we get students in and out of the car lines. It works pretty fluidly, and so it just takes time.” Marion, pg. 3
