Man identified in Friday night standoff with sheriff's deputies By Darren Dunn (Guadalupe County) -- Guadalupe County Sheriff Arnold Zwicke says a standoff, that lasted for more than three and half hours, ended peacefully on Friday night in the Las Brisas subdivision off State Highway 46 in the Seguin area. The suspect, identified as 41-year-old Ryan Dow Stephens, surrendered to authorities around 9:30 p.m. Friday after barricading himself inside a home located in the 300 block of Las Brisas Boulevard. Sheriff Zwicke says they were called out to the area just before 6 p.m. Friday on a call of a domestic dispute between a man and a woman in the area. Deputies encountered Stephens in route to the call and tried to pull him over. Zwicke says the man struck a patrol vehicle in an attempt to flee to his home in Las Brisas. Deputies opened fire at the suspect and the charging vehicle, but he managed to get home without injury. Ryan Dow Stephens

Sheriff Zwicke says the SWAT team responded, as well as negotiators, who spent the next few hours trying to diffuse the situation, and trying to coax Stephens to come out peacefully. Stephens was alone inside the home during the ordeal. He eventually came out, and he was arrested without further incident.
