(Seguin) – Do your kids like a challenge? Today is the deadline to sign up for the first ever Starcke Park Adventure Course. The event is open to kids ages 5 to 12 and will be held Saturday, Nov. 9 at the Max Starcke Park East Walking Trail. The adventure course features 10 obstacles that test participants’ strength, agility, endurance, and problem-solving skills. Nikki Berry, of the Seguin Parks and Recreation department, says the goal of this 1.5k or .9-mile obstacle course is to provide a fun and engaging experience for local children. She says obstacle courses are both man-made and nature made. “It’s walk, run, crawl, skip -- just for fun – just for finishers, no medals or anything like that. It’s just a sense of accomplishment,” said Berry. Berry says over the last few weeks, the parks office has been unveiling each of the obstacles, one by one, video social media. “Hopefully, they find our obstacles challenging and fun and
when they get done, they can head over and play some backyard type games with their family and kind of give everybody an opportunity to get out and enjoy some outdoor recreation time,” said Berry. Beginning at 9 a.m., Berry says participants will take off in waves (30 minutes in length) every 8 minutes. “We do have a cap. We are sending them in max of waves of 30 and once they register, they’ll receive their wave assignment. There will be a time associated, and a color associated. They will get a wristband in their packet to pick up. Deadline, pg. 3
