Tickets still available for Kiwanis Flapjack Jamboree TV, hotel stay, gift cards among this year’s raffle prizes By Cindy Aguirre-Herrera

(Seguin) -- The pandemic isn’t getting in the way of breakfast this weekend. That’s because griddles will be sizzling on Saturday for the Kiwanis Club’s 62nd Annual Flapjack Jamboree. While the pandemic isn’t stopping the civic group from hosting its major fundraiser, it has caused a few changes including a location change. This year, instead of being held at the Seguin Silver Center, the event will be held at the Columbus Club of Seguin. Amanda Dasher, a member of the Kiwanis Club, says although the fundraiser had to be altered a bit, the group is still very fortunate to be continuing its tradition of serving up breakfast to the Seguin community. “The format definitely is a lot different this year for us because we are used to having an indoor area where we have all of our raffle items and you sit down, have music so this year, we still did want to continue on to have our 62nd annual Flapjack Jamboree so we are just doing it as a drive thru event only. We are having it over at the Columbus Club of Seguin. They’ll pull in. We are going to have two separate lines to try to keep the flow going. It will be from 7 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and we are still having some raffle items. We do have three big items and we will be selling raffle tickets. We are selling them now and also on the day of the event and then we’ll have that drawing a little after 11:30 a.m.,” said Dasher. As for those three raffle prizes, Dasher says there’s still plenty of time to get your tickets.

“Our first item is donated by Ryan and Lindsay Koehler and Oehlke CPA. It is a 20 quart Pelican cooler, two 30 ounce Yukon outfitter tumblers, some yummy gummies and a $200 gift card to Granzin’s. Our second big raffle item is going to be two dinner gift cards for Rocket Wings, a free two-night stay at TownePlace Suites Seguin, a $200 gift card donated by First United Bank and a $100 gift certificate for the Lions Den (Art Collective) Tattoo Studio donated by Jeremiah Camacho. Our third raffle item is donated by the Law Office of Ruben James Reyes and that is a 70 inch LG smart TV, “ said Dasher. Dasher says club members take pride in the cooking themselves and are ready for another great year. “We have our pancake griddles out there. They have the sausages going. We will be wearing masks and going along with all the health code -- stuff that they have told us that we needed to follow even more this year. But, our members will be out there flipping pancakes and sausages from 7 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.,” said Dasher. Pancake tickets are $7 each. The pancakes are served with sausage, juice or coffee. Raffle tickets are $5 each or five for $20. Tickets can be purchased Friday at the Columbus Club of Seguin Hall from 1 to 3 p.m. Those interested may also message the club on its Facebook page. Limited tickets will also be available at the door. The Columbus Club of Seguin (Knights of Columbus) is located at 1015 S. Austin St.
