(Seguin) – The Seguin Area Chamber of Commerce isn’t letting anyone go unnoticed. The chamber recently hosted a night of recognition for those who have helped to make a difference in Seguin and Guadalupe County. Award recipients were announced during this year’s Seguin Area Chamber of Commerce Awards Banquet held in the Seguin Coliseum. Named as this year’s Business Excellence: Small Business of the Year award winner was VTX1. Recognized as the Large Business of the Year was Guadalupe Regional Medical Center. Other award recipients include Texas Lutheran University’s Dr. Sally Cook with this year’s Education Service Award, and Amy Rojas, of Heart to Heart Hospice, with this year’s Ambassador of the Year award.

Four Community Hero Awards were also presented. Recipients include Abigail Steck, of Guadalupe Regional Medical Center; David Camacho, an investigator with the Guadalupe County Sheriff ’s Office; Willie Ybarra, an officer with the Seguin Police Department; and Arnulfo Banda, a firefighter with the Seguin Fire/EMS Department. Rounding out the list was a pair of Community Service Awards. Receiving this year’s honors were retired educator and local volunteer Ronald Heinemeyer and former Seguin Mayor Don Keil. Tuesday’s banquet not only celebrated the success of the past year, but it also set in motion its future, with the passing of the gavel from outgoing Chairwoman Natalie Jones to the new Chairman William VanderWaal.
