Commissioners Court adopts budget, tax rate for FY 2024-25 Guadalupe County's rapid growth driving overall demand for services Darren Dunn
(Seguin) -- The Guadalupe County Commissioners Court wrapped up its budget process during it regular meeting Tuesday morning. The court approved a tax rate of 31.67 cents per $100 of property value. County Judge Kyle Kutscher says the new rate is actually lower than the current tax rate 32.31 cents, but it’s still technically a tax increase. “When you have appraised values go up -- if you keep the same tax rate, it means that the individual is paying more in taxes. If an appraised value goes up by 10 percent and you reduce...taxes by 10 percent, you’re trying to balance that out. What we have done is try to fund the needed and necessary items for public safety, for public service, for road improvements and for all the things that are included in our budget,” said Kutscher.
