School district host 2020 Convocation
Seguin ISD teachers, employees equipped with their own lessons for the upcoming school year
By Cindy Aguirre-Herrera (Seguin) -- The timing for this year’s 2020 Convocation message could not have been more perfect for the Seguin ISD as teachers and staff gathered throughout the district Monday morning to hear from this year’s prestigious keynote speaker -- a speaker who brought words of action and inspiration as the district prepares itself for a less traditional school year.
The Seguin ISD, during its Virtual Convocation Event, welcomed Dr. Tyrone Howard. This year instead of cheering teachers, the sounds of the Matador Band and a live presentation in the high school gym, employees gathered in front of the big screen at the various campuses to listen to his message. So, his message was one that I think we could all relate to right now because of the high insensitivity to what our students are experiencing and our students had many challenges prior to COVID but Now although the live event was forced to turn into a virtual now that COVID has hit, our one, he still believes it was all well worth the effort. students’ challenges have increased and our students are experiencing trauma,” said “It just really tied in perfectly not having any idea that COVID Gutierrez.
