Seguin Chamber names 2024 Texas Woman of Influence
Tickets sold out for this week’s annual conference Cindy Aguirre-Herrera
(Seguin) -- The two day 2024 Texas Women of Influence Conference is officially sold out. The event, which is hosted by the Seguin Area Chamber of Commerce and promotes the influence and contributions of incredible women in Seguin and throughout the state, is scheduled today, Aug. 7 and Thursday, Aug. 8 in the Seguin Coliseum. The conference, which includes an evening gala and conference day, has managed to sell out back to back years. Chamber President Chester Jenke says he believes the sold out crowd only solidifies the chamber’s initial vision for this event. “When we originally sat down and started this event, we were looking at how do we honor somebody locally but how do we also reach out into the state and find somebody inside the state of Texas that is making an impact inside of not just our community but for the state itself -- to be that woman of influence. So, to grow it from our local folks and our first selectee which was from the Houston area -- to see those nominees that have come in after that
have just been impressive to me,” said Jenke. The announcement of Elaine Bennet as this year’s Guadalupe County Woman of Influence award winner may have helped to drive the ticket sales. Bennett serves as the CEO of Guadalupe Regional Medical Foundation. Jenke says she was one of the nominees for the award and was chosen the winner by an outside

group that made the final selection. “If you look at things that she’s been able to accomplish inside of our community, it’s head and shoulders above what most would expect. I think it’s more important to share that when we sent that out to five independent folks from different parts of the state, that they all came up with the same number one person out of the group of nominees that we had,” said Jenke. Jenke says Bennett personifies community service. She serves as the Secretary for the Seguin Economic Development Corporation, she’s a member of the Texas Lutheran University Business Advisory Committee, a member of the Texas Hospital Association Board of Directors, she serves as a board member for Communities in Schools of South-Central Texas, and she’s the Chair of the Seguin Area Chamber of Commerce Public Affairs Committee. Her past community involvement has also include things like serving as the Chairman of the Board for the Seguin Area Chamber of Commerce, Church Council President of Seguin’s Faith Lutheran Church, and she previously served as a School Board Member for New Braunfels Christian Academy.
