Train versus 18-wheeler accident reported at area intersection Cindy Aguirre-Herrera
(Guadalupe County) -Another accident was added to the books Thursday morning at the intersection of FM 78 and FM 1044 near Marion. Guadalupe County Sheriff 's officials say no injuries were reported in the train versus 18-wheeler accident that occurred just before 11 a.m. The accident did, however, shut down the roadway to traffic for an extended period of time. The
Guadalupe County Commissioners Court has been publicly encouraging the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) to speed up its timeline for installing a traffic signal at that location. For years, they say that intersection has caused multiple accidents and in several of those months as many as one accident every two weeks. Officials say investigation into the crash continues.
Urgent care center to host Back to School Bash Cindy Aguirre-Herrera
(Seguin) -- A local medical team wants kids to be both happy and healthy when they head back to school. Rapid Urgent Care located at 920 W. Court St. near TLU is inviting families to its Back to School Bash this Saturday from noon to 2 p.m. Businesses also joining forces with Rapid Urgent Care to help get kids ready for the classroom are Beyond Coffee and Seguin Wellness & MedSpa. Urgent Care Manager Jill Ewald, says it was important for the team of businesses to come together and ensure that kids get what they need for free.
"We are doing a Back to School Special. We are giving out school supplies. We are doing back to school physicals for free that day within the 12 to 2 hour timeframe. Patients show up and just fill out the paperwork and we will get them taken care of as quickly as possible -- vision, hearing -- make sure everything is A-Okay. We've got some raffle tickets, some cotton candy, some popcorn and ice cream. We (also) have a mobile snow cone machine coming in. It's kind of saying goodbye to summer and hello to the school year," said Ewald. Bash, pg. 3
