Seguin Mayor ready for Summer Gas Giveaway Cindy Aguirre-Herrera
(Seguin) – Seguin Mayor Donna Dodgen says she’s ready to roll up her sleeves and help fill up those gas tanks. Dodgen will be among the city leaders and church volunteers who will be providing one free tank of gas during Saturday’s Summer Gas Giveaway. The event designed for families in need will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. at the VP Racing Fuel Pic N Pac store location at 630 W. Court St. The only thing drivers need to ensure is that there is at least one child present in the vehicle during pumping. As previously reported, the gas giveaway is being made possible thanks to ReachUp Ministries in San Antonio and Sweet Home
Baptist Church in Seguin. Dodgen says she is excited to be partnering with these church communities in hopes of making a positive impact in the community. “I think it’s a wonderful idea. That group approached us and felt that it was a calling to come to Seguin to do this. I admire that and we all wanted to honor that. One of their goals was for people to meet first responders, to meet public officials, to gather and meet other people in the public that might be in a place of decision makers and so I think that is important as well to be out there and to be available and so I thought this was a wonderful opportunity,” said Dodgen.
