EVERYTHING FREEDOM FIESTA!

WEEKEND

EDITION

TODAY

Vendors return & Jesse Raub Jr. Headlines Lizz Daniels

It’s hard to believe another Freedom Fiesta is just around the corner. Time flies, but traditions keep us grounded not only in the moment, but in the past, tying what has been, with what is –– in the most beautiful way. This year’s event is going to be, without question, the biggest one we’ve had in years –– maybe our biggest ever. This month’s Seguin Today is a sneak peak in to all the big plan we have for thi year’s event.

Our feature stories dive into the traditions of Freedom Fiesta introducing you to some of the community members who attend as vendors. You’ll also get to read about Jesse Raub Jr. and his plans to turn downtown into a Honky Tonky on July 1. You can read all that and more in the June issue of Seguin Today available around town, or at our KWED office on Court St.

Seguin to observe Flag Day with retirement ceremony, free dinner at Field of Honor Cindy Aguirre-Herrera

(Seguin) – Old Glory will not go unnoticed on this Flag Day holiday. In fact, it’s pretty difficult to not notice the Stars and Stripes this week as Seguin continues its hosting of the annual Field of Honor along State Highway 123 Bypass. As part of its weeklong festivities, the local Field of Honor committee along with its partners at Faith Lutheran Church will be hosting a flag retirement ceremony this evening. The community is invited to bring their faded and tattered flags for retirement.

The ceremony gets underway at 6:30 p.m. at the Field of Honor site. Following the ceremony, the public will be treated to hot dogs, chips, and drinks courtesy of Seguin’s HEB. Celebrating Seguin’s hosting of the sea of almost 1,000 flags across the church lawn is Seguin Mayor Donna Dodgen. Dodgen shared her words of appreciation during the group’s opening ceremonies held on Saturday. Honor, pg. 3
