Freedom Fiesta bigger, better this year Ray resigns in preparation for Sheriff ’s office
Seguin encouraged to mark their calendars

(Seguin) -- The sheriff-in-waiting is resigning his post from the Guadalupe County Sheriff ’s Office. Chief Deputy Joshua Ray is leaving the sheriff ’s office for now and will instead be joining another county office. Ray was offered the opportunity to serve as Chief Deputy almost a year and a half ago by current Sheriff Arnold Zwicke. His announcement on Monday comes nearly three months after he won the Republican nomination for sheriff during the March 5th Primary. Since he faces no Democratic opponent in the November General Election, Ray is set to officially take office as Sheriff on Jan. 1, 2025. Ray, pg. 2

(Seguin) -- Seguin’s celebration of our nation’s independence gets started a little bit earlier this year. Freedom Fiesta will kick off this year’s observance of the week of the Fourth of July holiday. It will be held from 6 to 11 p.m. on Saturday, June 29 in Central Park. Freedom Fiesta is a tradition that dates back to 1967, and has been a community favorite ever since. It was originally hosted by the Seguin Area Chamber of Commerce, but it has been hosted by radio station AM 1580 KWED for more than a decade now. KWED General Manager Darren Dunn says there will be more music, more food, and more family fun on display at this year’s event. “Brandon Michael and his band will be our headliner this year. Brandon is a local guy, but he has a huge following, and we are excited to hear him perform for the Freedom Fiesta crowd this year. He is going to put on a fantastic show. Bring your lawn chairs, blankets and dancing shoes, because it will be a great night,” said Dunn. Freedom Fiesta, pg. 3
